Budding Artists and Designers of Amity showcase their works during “Kreativ 13”
Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT) & Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA) organized two day “ Kreativ 13” – the annual Fashion and Art event from April 3-4, 2013 at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
During “Kreativ 13, Undergraduate and Postgraduate from ASFT and ASFA showcased their works including Paintings, Photographs, Comic Art, Sticker Art, Animation and other forms of Art.
Famous Artist, Ms. Seema Kohli, Eminent Fashion Designer, Mr. Gaurav Gupta and Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology inaugurated “Kreativ 13”
Welcoming the distinguished gathering and dwelling on the aim of “Kreativ 13”, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts and Amity School of Fashion Technology said that Kreativ not only gives an opportunity to the budding artists and designers to showcase their creativity but also provides them an interface with the industry experts who mentor and guide students and further hone their talents. She thanked industry guests for coming over and enlightening the students with their vast experience and knowledge and called upon the students to make the best of the opportunity provided to them by “Kreativ 13”
Addressing the students, Mr. Gaurav Gupta said that during the last 20-25 years the Fashion Design industry has grown rapidly in India which can be attributed to the increased reach of Information Technology and Commercialization. He apprised students with the numerous opportunities that exist in the Fashion Industry, especially in the wake of the entry of foreign brands in India. He remarked that Fashion has become an indispensable part of everybody’s life and everyday fashion changes, making it imperative for budding designers to be competitive and creative, at the same time keeping themselves abreast with latest designs and technologies. He advised students to unleash their creativity and create “out of the box” and craziest designs, since real creativity has no boundaries and limits.
Stressing on the importance of Art, Ms. Seema Kohli said that art has a very important place in everybody’s life. Whatever color an artist uses in his creation, reflects his thinking and his temperament. Paintings and photographs are very lively and vivid expression of an artist’s feelings and emotions. Art is a potent method to create awareness or disseminating vital information to the masses. She called upon the students to give a vent to their innate creativity, letting it flow freely in the form of art in order to create true “masterpieces of art”.
The inauguration was followed by “Fashion Apparel and Retail Conference” wherein Mr. Anant Sadana, CEO, Apparel United, Mr. Arvind Sharma, Head Marketing (North), Reliance Trendz, Mr. Raghav Ahuja, Regional Head, Puma, Mr. Umesh Chaudhary, Manager-Head-Human Resources-Corporate, Ritu Wears- Big Life and other prolific industry speakers will share their views during different sessions on “India- an Emerging Sourcing Hub & Initiatives in Apparel Manufacturing by Industry”, “Indian Fashion Industry: Opportunities for Growth-A Perspective of Brand/ Luxury /Retail” and “Indian Fashion Industry: Opportunities for Growth-A Design & HR Perspective”.
Sharing his views during the Conference, Mr. Munish Tyagi, Senior Technical and Textile Consultant pointed out the weaknesses of Indian Textile industry and stressed that Apparel Manufacturing industry in India is chained by low limits of investments which resulted in setting up of large number of small scale industrial units, resulting in increased overhead costs, paralyzing the industry. He lamented the heavy burden of excise duty on synthetics in India and the excessive excise duty on branded products making MNCs retail costly in India. He advised students to create value for money products because eventually, customer buys the products which have right pricing. He stressed that market is driven by volumes and true retail would come from “value for money proposition”. He called upon the budding designers to be innovative and creative rather than just imitating foreign brands.
Mr. Rajeev Bansal, Managing Director, Celestial Knits & Fabs Pvt. Ltd. stressed that Indian apparel industry is from fiber to fashion but value chain is missing. India needs to work on its competitive edge in this sector to make the apparel industry profitable. He urged the Indian designers to keep themselves updated with latest fashion trends since the fashion changes very quickly and yesterday’s trends become redundant today. “The products have to be developed fast and launched into the market immediately. Quality of the products needs to be assured and delivery time has to be expedited”, remarked the speaker.
The students from Masters of Fine Arts programme showcased Brand Promotional Projects of Multi- national companies like KFC, Coke and Mc Donalds designed by them. The projects aimed at capturing the attention consumers especially children through innovative ways which included battery powered, chicken lollypops (made of thermocol) popping up and down in the small bucket (KFC product) and an eye catchy Wooden Bottle of Coke with a transparent pipe wrapped around it through which the shining bubbles of coke flowed.
During the two day event, the budding artists from Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts specializing in Painting, Applied Arts and Animation displayed over 300 works which included a wide spectrum of paintings (Landscape Paintings, Portrait, Life Drawings, Figurative Paintings, Abstract Paintings, Pencil Sketching),Sculptors, Installations, Print Advertisements and Campaigns, Typography, Graphic Design and 3 D Animation.
