Eight Universities from USA, Germany, Africa visit Amity University to discuss potential areas of collaboration
A high powered delegation comprising of 12 members from 8 Universities of USA, Germany and Africa visited Amity University to mull over the potential areas of collaboration. The delegation was led by Dr. S.B. Anumolu, President, The Indus Foundation, USA & India and Prof. Mahesh Gandhi, Director - Indus Foundation, USA & Vice President-Educomp.
The educational institutions that formed the part of the delegation included University of Baltimore, USA, Idaho State University, USA, Missouri University of Science & Technology, USA, Oakland University, USA, University of Central Arkansas, USA, Stella Maris Polytechnic, Liberia – Africa, University of Benin, Nigeria – Africa and Hof University, Germany
The delegation was received by Prof. V.P.S Arora, Dean – Academics, Amity University, Dr. Manoj Kulshreshtha, Dean – Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology and Maj Gen R.K. Dhawan, Advisor – International Affairs Department, Amity.
Welcoming the delegates, Prof. V.P.S Arora, Dean – Academics, Amity University said that apart from the academic excellence, world class infrastructure; the main emphasis of Amity is on Research & Development and shared various tie ups that Amity University has with number of universities across the world for joint research, student exchange etc. He expressed his hope that the proposed collaboration would be mutually beneficial for both the Universities.
Prof. Mahesh Gandhi, Director - Indus Foundation, USA & Vice President-Educomp said that in the era of globalization, universities across the world should come together and share resources in order to churn out globally competent workforce. “The main objective of this visit is to bring these 8 Universities and Amity University closer so that interactions and collaborations amongst them could bring concrete change in the academic scenario of India, “highlighted Prof. Gandhi.
Dr. Joseph S. Wood Provost & Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, University of Baltimore –USA said that their university is looking for online integration of both universities. Dr Wood expressed an interest in joint faculty exchange programs, student exchange, joint curriculum development etc. Dr Joseph informed the gathering that University of Baltimore is offering wide array of courses in Law, Business, Mass Communications, Science & Technology etc.
Sharing her views, Ms. Nicole Hattner, General Manager, Hof Institute for Advanced Studies, Hof University – Germany said that their university has a special bonding with India and therefore runs a 2 year specialized MBA for Indian Engineers. In this unique course, she highlighted that, first semester is taught at Partner University in India while second & third semester is taught at Hof University. Final semester is paid internship which can be done either in India or Germany. Ms. Hattner said that their university is looking for partner in North India for this unique course. They are also interested in joint research and academic collaborations.
Mr. Jethro W. Brooks, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, Stella Maris Polytechnic, Liberia – Africa said that he is pleased to know that Amity is already running Pan African E-Learning programs. Mr. Brooks said that they are interested in capacity building program for their faculty & students and Faculty Development Programs.
