Six Universities from USA visit Amity University to discuss potential areas of collaboration

A high powered delegation comprising of 8 members from 6 Universities of USA visited Amity University to mull over the potential areas of collaboration. The delegation was led by Dr. Thomas Gibbons, Dean, School of Continuing Studies – Northwestern University, Illinois.

The educational institutions that formed the part of the delegation included Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant – Michigan; Northwestern University – Illinois; California State University, San Marcos – California; Auburn University, Auburn – Alabama; California State University East Bay and University of Chicago.

The delegation was received by

Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor Amity University said that it’s a proud moment for Amity to host a galaxy of global education leaders from USA under one roof discussing about various collaborative options. Sharing her views on the rapidly changing global economy, Dr. Shukla said that with globalization and receding geographical boundaries, business is no longer limited to one country, as a result of which it has become very important for professionals to be globally competent. Dr. Shukla added that for any University, curriculum is most important followed by research activities. She stressed that the key areas which could be mutually beneficial such as joint PhD programs, student exchange, faculty exchange, joint projects, joint seminars, workshops etc can be identified for collaboration.

Dr. Thomas Gibbons, Dean, School of Continuing Studies  – Northwestern University, Illinois said that in the era of globalization, online education should be given equal importance. He apprised the gathering with numerous courses offered by School of Continuing Studies  – Northwestern University, Illinois including Masters in Professional Courses, undergraduate and post graduate courses in Public Policy & Administration, Sports Administration, Liberal Studies, Mathematics etc.


Sharing her views, Dr Sarah Villarreal, Associate Dean, Extended Learning, California State University, San Marcos, California said that , California State University  is looking for collaboration in the areas of Health Science, Nursing, Biotechnology and would be glad to work with Amity University in the area of joint research, student & faculty exchange.

Identifying and expressing the potential areas of collaboration with Amity University, Dr. Melissa Brun, Director of International Programs, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant – Michigan said that they are mulling over the collaboration in the areas of Business Administration, Communication, Science & Technology, Education & Human Services and would like to work together with Amity University in the area of student & faculty exchange in research, community engagement, international outreach and joint seminars.
