Public-Private Partnership in Education is the need of the hour- says Shri Manish Tewari, Minister of Information & Broadcasting during the inauguration of International Conference on “Infocom Technologies” at Amity University
Amity Institute of Information Technology (AIIT ) in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) started three day International Conference on “Reliability, Infocom Technologies and Optimization” (ICRITO’2013) from January 29-31, 2013 at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
Shri Manish Tewari, Union Minister of State, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India , Shri Satish Babu, President, Computer Society of India, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan - Founder President, Amity Group inaugurated the International Conference ICRITO’2013.
While addressing the gathering, Shri Manish Tewari, Union Minister of State, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India applauded the theme of the Conference by calling it “very timely and relevant”. While highlighting the need for Public Private Partnership in education sector, Mr. Tewari said that if we really want to ignite billion minds and take full advantage of rich demographics of the country. Mr. Tewari said that India has witnessed two important developments during the last two decades-Broadcasting sector has grown from single Broadcaster to 852 Broadcasters in year 2012 and Telecom sector has seen an exponential increase in tele-density in rural and urban areas. Mr. Tewari further added that during the last 5 years, social media has grown massively, reshaping the communication paradigm. With this phenomenon, India , today, has 7 crore broadcasters who are using facebook, twitter, linkedin etc. The lines of technology between usage of a phone instrument to making calls and radio for entertainment are completely blurring. But regulations have not kept pace with rapid technological developments. It still does not differentiate between broadcast space, print space or social space said Mr. Tewari. He stressed that Government has a responsibility of providing necessary statutory architecture and laws, which needs to be methodological. He advised the students to utilize the opportunity to redesign the governance and administrative paradigm to be able to live a better life
Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan - Founder President, Amity Group said that our country is passing through challenging phase, there are numerous developments in diverse fields and technological challenges abounds in every field. Dr. Chauhan further added that in this globally competitive environment, scientific analysis of information system is the key to attain market leadership. The competitive advantage through quality process, product and services in the market place is possible through the development of knowledge base and easy access to structured databases on systems, processes and technology based on quantitative study.
Shri Satish Babu, President, Computer Society of India (CSI) said that information technology has prominent role in bridging the gap between urban and rural divide. Mr. Babu said that CSI was established in 1965 and has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 70 chapters all over India, 418 student branches, and more than 90,000 members. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla- Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Prof. Sunil Kumar Khatri, Director - Amity Institute of Information Technology, Maj Gen R.K. Dhawan, Advisor – International Affairs Department, Amity University were also present during the inaugural ceremony.
The Inauguration was preceded by technical sessions on “Innovation, Education and Open Source: Future Directions for India “, “Rough Set and Matroid” was held wherein Mr. Satish Babu, President – Computer Society of India Prof. William Zhu – Minjianf Chair Professor, Director Key Lab of Granular Computing, Zhangzhou Normal University, China shared their views.
Inauguration Ceremony was followed by Panel Discussion on the theme “Cyber Crime & Laws” which was moderated by Mr. Talwant Singh, Addl. District & Sessions Judge – Delhi. Mr. Pawan Duggal, Advocate – Supreme Court of India and Dr. Anup Girdhar, CEO & Founder - Sedulity Solutions & Technologies presented insight on the cyber crime laws.
