Mr. Sean Tompkins, Global CEO- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK visits Amity University
A high level delegation from Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), United Kingdom visited Amity University, Sector-125, Noida to build a mutually rewarding association between RICS and Amity University in the area of Urban Management. The delegation was led by Mr. Sean Tompkins, Global CEO- RICS including Mr. Mark Powell, ED- Product Development, U.K, Ms. Violetta Parylo – ED - Finance, U.K, Ms. Eve Pienaar – Director- Legal, U.K, Mr. Sachin Sandhir – MD- RICS South Asia, Mr. Ashwani Awasthi – ED- Operations & Compliance, Ms. Devina Ghildial – ED, Mr. Nitin Kapoor – Head- Product Development, Ms. Daksha Bakshi, ED- Khaitan & Company – Lawyers and Mr. Joyjyoti Misra – Khaitan & Company – Lawyers
Mr. Sean Tompkins, Global CEO- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors was delighted to see the world class infrastructure of Amity University and while addressing the gathering said, “RICS founded in London in 1868 is committed to setting and upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity in land, property and construction. Mr. Tompkins said that around 70% of the world’s wealth is in property and around 10% of world population is employed in property, land and construction profession. But there is an acute shortage of professionals in this field all over the world. With the collaboration with Amity University, we can build new generation of qualified professionals around India and worldwide”, said Mr. Tompkins.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that real estate industry needs quality professionals. Proper training of industry professionals and designing suitable programs by academic institutions is the need of the hour. We are looking forward to work together with RICS which will give multiple dimensions to the employability of our students.
Er. A.K. Srivastava, Director - Amity School of Urban Management (ASUM) remarked that India is one of the fastest growing economy of the world. New townships and structures are rapidly coming up all over India. India is capable to develop 10 cities like Singapore in next 7 years. Our economy is growing, population is increasing, investments are pouring and we now need professionals who can develop new India. Er. Srivastava said that Amity has long time ago thought about the need of programs in infrastructure and real estate and therefore course offered under Amity School of Urban Management such as MBA in Urban Infrastructure & Real Estate Management will help the students build up the industry.
Delegation members from Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, United Kingdom also met up with Mr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
During the occasion Dr. Alka Munjal, Director – Academics, Amity University, Prof. S.P. Jakhanwal, Director General – ACPM&ES, Prof. V.K. Mathur, Director – Amity School of Architechture & Planning and Amity School of Design, Mr. Rajiv Verma, Vice President – Skill Development, Amity University and Head of the institutions of Amity University were present.
The delegation also took round of the campus and was impressed with magnificent campus including infrastructure, Amity Centre of e-Learning and Amity Innovation Incubator.
