Amity Institute of Corporate Communication organises National Seminar on Emerging and Changing Trends in Communication Skills
Amity Institute of Corporate Communication (AICC), in collaboration with Goyal Publishers, Collins Publications, Russian Embassy & British Council organized a one-day National Conference on November 21, 2012 at F2 Seminar Hall, Amity University, Noida.
Mr. Charlie Walker, Director Programmes,India and Srilanka, British Council, British Embassy, Dr. Elaine Higgleton,Publishing Director, Dictionaries and Reference, Collins Language, HarperCollins Publishers Ltd, Ms. Tatiana Perova, Director and Head, Teachers TrainingCentre, Russian Embassy, Prof S.K Das, HOD-English, Teerthanker MahavirUniversity, Moradabad, Prof (Dr) Chandra Mohan, Advisor, Central University ofGujarat, Dr. Vikas Sharma, DLitt. HOD-English, DAV PG Girls Collage,Bulandshahr and H.A. Arfi, IAS (Retd.), Director & Head - AICC & AIESR inaugurated the Seminar.
H.A. Arfi, IAS (Retd.), Director &Head - Amity Institute of Corporate Communication (AICC) and Amity Institute of English Studies & Research (AIESR) welcomed the guests and spoke about the relevance of communication skills. He emphasized on the 3C’s Curiosity,Courage and Confidence as the ingredients for the successful communication skills.
Mr. Charlie Walker, Director Programmes, India and Srilanka, British Council, British Embassy mentioned about the demand of English language for the purpose of education,employability and social mobility. He also mentioned about how British Council is working in collaboration with several states in India to enhance English Language skills.
Dr. Elaine Higgleton,Publishing Director, Dictionaries and Reference, Collins Language, Harper Collins Publishers Ltd. in her keynote address talked about the importance of communication in the modern world. She mentioned about listening skills and speaking skills. She emphasized the role of good pronunciation and also of cultural sensitivity in communication skills.She presented an excellent audio visual interactive session with the galaxy of intellectuals present.
The Changing Trends in Communication Skills was discussed by Prof S.K Das, HOD-English,Teerthanker Mahavir University, Moradabad. He reiterated the importance of communication skills. He emphasized on the art of presentation in today’s business scenario. He asserted that students should be exposed to cultural diversity so that they can adjust well in MNCs
Prof(Dr) Chandra Mohan, Advisor, Central University of Gujarat talked about the Emerging Trends in English Communication in the international parlance. He discussed the cultural issues and challenges involved in Communicative English.
Ms. Tatiana Perova, Director and Head,Teachers Training Centre, Russian Embassy delivered her speech on the importance of use of digital media in modern-day communication. She also talked about the role of Russian embassy in India and how Russian can be learnt easily at the Russian learning centre in India.
Technical sessions were held post-lunch on the topics English language: Learning and teaching techniques, Use of Digital media in learning language, Communication skills: Different dimensions & Business Communication: Tools and Techniques. The delegates presented their papers on different aspects of Communication Skills.
