Delegation from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, UK visits Amity School of Fine Arts & Amity School of Fashion Technology

Professor Christopher O’Neil, Executive Dean, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design visited Amity School of Fine Arts & Amity School of Fashion Technology on Friday the 30th November, 2012. During this visit Professor Christopher interacted with Dr. Pradeep Joshi, Director, ASFT, ASFA & ASPA. Senior faculty members of ASFT & ASFA including Mr. Shankar Sahay, International Coordinator (ASFT) & Mr. Varun Sahai, International Coordinator (ASFA) along with representative from International Affairs Dept. were also present for discussions & deliberations. Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) is one of the most established, largest and significant centres for art, design and architecture education in the world and offers an exciting range of programs at undergraduate and masters levels in Fine Arts; Fashion & Textiles; & Jewellery. Some of their programmes are BA (Hons.) in Art & Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Retail Management & MA in Art & Design.

 

The discussions between Professor Christopher and Dr. Pradeep Joshi, Director, ASFT, ASFA & ASPA were focused on identifying common areas of mutual interest like students and faculty exchange programmes, offering joint educational programmes, exploring international association for various programmes being offered by the schools etc. Professor Christopher was then taken around and shown the various facilities of ASFA & ASFT. He was highly impressed by the various fashion design & fine arts labs and appreciated the opportunity being provided to the students to work on the concerned lab equipments & art studios. Professor Christopher keenly observed the work of the students and even interacted with them. He departed saying that he was overwhelmed with the efforts of the ASFT/ ASFA team and the resulting work of the students.
