‘Universities of Singapore keen on Educational tie up with Amity’: Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan, High Commissioner, Singapore

To boost the relationship between Singapore and India, Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan, High Commissioner of Singapore and Ambassador of Nepal and Bhutan visited Amity University Campus, Sector-125, Noida with the objective of exploring educational collaboration opportunities between Amity and the leading Universities of Singapore.

Maj. Gen K.Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) on behalf of the entire Amity family welcomed Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan, High.

Addressing the Heads of Institutions, Senior Academicians and Senior Officials from Amity, Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan informed that the bilateral relationship between India and Singapore is a multifaceted one and the economic ties between the two countries have ever since been strong and healthy. Sharing her views on the future prospects of India - Singapore Cooperation she said “India has great potential to nurture its international relationships and ties (particularly in Commerce) due to its rich resources and asset of culture. Singapore is the second largest investor in India and on the contrary also, there are over 8,30,000 Indian tourists in South East Asia annually.” “Apart from the existing linkages between India and Singapore based on Commerce and Tourism, Singapore is keen on stepping forward to strike an educational collaboration with India. The idea of an educational joint venture between the leading Universities of Singapore and Amity University, which indeed is the most prestigious private University of India will bring phenomenal mutual growth to both the countries as well as further the relationship between Singapore and India ensuring bright future prospects for both”, She added.

Sharing his views on the idea of education collaboration between Amity and Universities of Singapore, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group informed that it is a matter of immense pride to join hands with the niche Universities of Singapore with the noble objective of offering mutual benefits to the students of Amity and Universities of Singapore through effective collaborative research programmes apart from various other educational exchange programmes and the synergy efforts of Universities of Singapore and Amity will enhance the quality of education as well as the its accessibility to the masses.

Responding to the interest of Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Rajasthan (AUR) said that Amity and Singapore have a close relationship and Amity has established Amity Global Business School (AGBS) in the heart of the city of Singapore. Although AGBS, Singapore at present is a centre of excellence in education and research in the area of Management only, yet Amity looks forward to expand to offering academic programmes in all the areas in future. “The combined strength of Universities of Singapore and Amity will bring prosperity of intellect and culture in both the countries”, he added.

The visit was followed by a valuable interactive session between Her Excellency Ms. Karen Tan, High and Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group wherein possible areas of educational collaboration between Universities of Singapore and Amity were identified with the objective of facilitating the same at the earliest.
