‘Power would be transmitted without cables and towers in near future through collaborative efforts of researchers in India’ avers Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technical University at Amity Inaugurating the two day (May 19th -20th, 2011) National Conference on “Recent Trends in Materials and Devices” (RTMD 2011) organized by Amity Institute of Applied Sciences & Amity School of Engineering and Technology Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technical University (DTU), said that Science is one of the most powerful factors that helps in alleviation of poverty and other problems of the society therefore it is highly pleasing to note that faculty and researchers from various reputed Universities, Colleges and research organizations including IIT, DU, DRDO, BHU, CSIR Labs etc will be participating during the two days of RTMD 2011 with the concerted idea of upgrading knowledge as per the current Global Scenario. “India’s focus on Science and Technology will mark a new future for Material and Devices to the extent of smarter Devices are being carved out of smart materials in the times to come. The research and progress in this area will not only produce smart and intelligent devices but equally environment friendly ones in future.
The synergy efforts of the Scientists and Technology experts will make possible transmission of light without wires and Connectivity without towers in the times ahead,” he added.

Prof. R .K. Khandal, Director, Shriram Institute of Industrial Research said that Amity is an inspiration in itself and Amity students over the years have demonstrated unparallel keenness on learning, along with consistent excellence in performance. “The area of Material and Devices is undergoing constant transformation and upgradation particularly in the sectors of Energy, Defence, Health and Infrastructure. The Globe is calling for research and technology to go hand in hand in order to make the most of energy and resources of the Universe”, he emphasized
The National Conference focused on ‘New developments in Materials and Devices’, ‘Integration of the different disciplines of Applied Sciences, Advancing outcome of R & D in the areas from laboratory to practical devices’ and also provided with an opportunity to the participants to interact with eminent researchers as well as develop potential collaborative partnership. A cluster of enlightening technical sessions, plenary lectures, paper presentations apart from various other scientific contributions on the topics
“High Performance Materials”, “Nano Materials & Applications”, “Materials and Renewable Energy”, “Semi-Conductor Materials & Devices”, “Sensors”, “Basic Plasma & Space Physics”, “Modelling & Simulation”, Characterization Techniques” etc by eminent researchers unfolded during the two days of the Conference wherein
Prof. Oscar Joao Abdonour from University of Sao Paulo informed “ Competing traditions of theories of ratio and the process has led to the emergence of arithmetical theory of ratio. The Complex process already had begun in the Ancient Greece which developed through the Middle Ages until the Renaissance and received contributions from the Latin and Arabic traditions culminating with the confluence of such traditions and consequently with its acceleration during the Renaissance” while presenting his paper on
“Ratios and Theories of Ratios in the Middle Ages and Renaissance: A Preleminary Survey”.
