Good Human Values are ‘The Way of Life’ avers Dr. (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools during the concluding ceremony of Amity Human Values Quarter 2011’
To instill the prime virtues of human values amongst the youth in tandem with academic excellence, Amity University annually observes the Amity Human Values Quarter spread over four months (January – April) with the aim to provide holistic education to its students for them to grow up as enhanced, principled and complete human beings of tomorrow. Amity Human Values Quarter 2011 has been a patchwork of a myriad value oriented programmes broadly based on value sharing, social awareness and social responsibility which concluded at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
During the course of the Human Values Quarter ‘2011’ thousands of students from various institutions of Amity demonstrated enthusiastic participation and involvement in multiple competitive events and social work oriented activities that included ‘Fund collection of Rs. 3, 25000 for AMITASHA (a school run by Amity for the underprivileged girl children), ‘Visit to an orphanage at Ramakrishna Mission, Sector-26, Noida wherein students conducted talent shows and quiz contests for the underprivileged children of the Mission with the idea of giving a perk to the spirits of those children, who were then rewarded with exciting prizes such as books, color sets, various sports accessories etc in appreciation to their performances’, ‘Visits to old age homes, Delhi Cheshire Home, NGOs (ASHRAY as well as SOS Village Faridabad), Slums, wherein donations of clothes, stationeries and other essentials were made by the students, Campaigns on ‘Clean India at AIIMS, New Delhi and Rajghat’, ‘Anti Smoking and Anti Tobacco Chewing’, ‘Say No to Road Rage’, Debate Competitions on stimulating themes of ‘Human Values a boon to institution’, ‘Entertainment on Media needs monitoring for preservation of values’, ‘Pro Social behaviour’, ‘Is Modernization at the cost of Human Values’, ‘Vartaman yug mein naitik mulya – saadhak ya bhaadak?’(in Hindi) etc, Skit presentations on issues like ‘Child Labour, ‘Problems faced by Women’ etc, Workshop on ‘Life Skils’, Exhibitions on the topics such as ‘Parenting Values for holistic and Harmonious Development of the child’, Blood Donation Camps apart from innumerable other conscience invigorating events which received unparallel initiative and contribution from the students, faculty members, Heads of Departments and Heads of Institutions from various institutions of Amity.
Addressing the august gathering Dr. Ashok. K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said “The Indian Soil is richly composed of values and principles therefore Indians can make great contribution of human values to the entire world. The virtue of human values is best utilized when inculcated in children who will change the Nation and further change the world we live in.” Appreciating the students of all the institutions for their efforts to bring awareness of human values through various programmes during the Amity Human Values Quarter, Dr. Chauhan urged Amity School of Hospitality to prepare 5000 meals and distribute it to poor and needy and announced a Scholarship of Rs. 2000 per student for 50 students to conduct a study on “Requirement of Human Values to lead a Successful, Joyful and a Healthy life”.
Sharing her valuable thoughts on the occasion Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools (AIS) said “Values happen to be the very way of life. It is the responsibility of human beings to metamorphose the term and idea of ‘Huaman Values’ to hard core implementation in every small or big way possible to be able to contribute to Nation building.” “Humility and love are the greatest assets of the Universe. When there is humanity in mankind, then there is order in the Nation”, she added. Overwhelmed with the magnificent performance of the students of AMITASHA Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan expressed her sheer faith in their spirit and capabilities which will make a huge difference to the world.
Presenting his report on Amity Human Values Quarter 2011’ Prof. R.R, Grover, Director, Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Sciences (ASIAS) said “Amity Human Value Quarter has given a great opportunity to bond with humility and human values and the involvement in all the activities based on human values during the Quarter is sure to keep alive humility, compassion and care in each one all round the year”, he added.
Sharing her institute’s contribution Ms. Paromita, Student, Amity Law School, Delhi informed that the students of her institute visited nearby slums and endeavoured to spread the awareness of basic Legal Rights, Fundamental Rights and Duties which will help the slum dwellers to understand the values and power of rights and duties and also a debate on “Legal Sanctity and Relevance of Live-in Relation” was organized as part of the Human Values Quarter.
Showcasing the contributions of his institute during Amity Human Values Quarter 2011, Deshraj Singh, Student, MBA, IInd Year, Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Sciences said that the students of his institute visited slum areas in Noida and donated food and clothes to the needy. Cherishing the humane experience also informed that the students were actively part of Clean India Campaign to clean up Yamuna.
An engrossing presentation and narration of different activities by the finalists including a spectacular performance by the students of AMITASHA (A School for the underprivileged girl children) and a short film showcasing the efforts and participation of Amity students in various activities during the Quarter marked the culmination of Amity Human Values Quarter 2011.
Awards and Certificates were presented to the winners by Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools (AIS) and Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group who also celebrated the birthday of the revered Chairperson.
