Amity Institute Psychology and Allied Sciences organized a Seminar on the theme “Sustenance of Human Values: Strategies and Human Interventions” as part of the Human Values Quarter 2011 at Amity University campus, Sector-125, Noida
While delivering the keynote address, Prof. Abha Singh, Director, Amity Institute of Behavioral Health and Allied Sciences spoke on the importance of values in life. Prof. Singh said, “significance of values are experienced in every aspect of life. Despite, its vitality people give least importance to the values of life. In true sense, human evolution has stopped only technological advancements are taking place in a faster pace. With the application of values one can properly discriminate between right and wrong which will make the society a happy place to live in. Self observation is the most important aspect which every individual should exercise.”
A report of research on Human Values was presented by Dr. Anuradha Sharma, Faculty, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences. While presenting her report, Dr. Sharma said that the future of the country is in the hands of the students. They are the torch bearer of the values in the times ahead. Therefore, the teachers and parents play a vital role in imbibing the good values in children. Values like cooperation, courage, devotion, truthfulness and faithfulness are to be inculcated in the future citizens of the country. Good nature and personality of a teacher is important for the students as teachers play role model for the students. By maintaining emotional balance, the teachers can help the students in a better way while coping with academic and peer pressure.
Quoting her research, Dr. Anuradha Sharma said that teachers should show a balanced approach in every aspect to the students and go beyond text books to make them understand the values of life.
The winners of the competition on the theme “Sustenance of Human Values: Strategies and Human Interventions” are Ms. Chetali Bhatia, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences won the first prize, Ms. Tanvi Bhandari, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences, won the second prize and Ms. Prerna, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences won the third prize.
The winners of the Documentary Competition titled “Swami Vivekananda and his Educational and Life Philosophy” are Ms. Shanthini, Amity Institute of Forensic Science, won the first prize, Mr. Sampan Malhotra, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences won the second prize and Ms. Prerna, Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences won the third prize.
