“93% of Indian Population is still to avail appropriate judicial mechanisms” points out legal veteran at Amity during a panel disscussion
In celebration of Centenary International Women’s Day a panel discussion on
“Role of Women in Managing Conflicts” was organized by Amity Law School II at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
Presenting her welcome address
Ms. Mamta Srivastava, Dy. Director, Amity Law School (ALS) II stated “Women possess the strength to carry the weight of the entire world therefore women must be essentially nurtured from their infant days so as to enable them to add more value and meaning to the nation to further make it a strong world.”
Addressing the audience
Mrs. Naresh Bakshi, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, said “The strength of women is driven from their will power therefore each day women need to make an effort to enhance and develop the will power in them in order to grow and uplift themselves to emerge victoriously in all the situations of their lifecycle.”
“Out of the total population of the country, 55 % do not move the courts for mitigating requirements most likely due the constraints of cost and time and about 38 % opt for extra judicial mechanism thereby totaling to 93% of population is yet to avail appropriate judicial mechanisms.”” informed
Mrs. Neena Bansal Krishna, Addl. District Judge, Secretary ADR, Mediator Trainer, Tis Hazari, Delhi during the panel discussion. In context of the situation she suggested “Government should think of alternative mechanisms wherein trained professionals can help people overcome all possible constraints and thereby extend mediating services particularly to those women who are yet to be aware of the already available mechanisms.”
During her address
Mrs. Yasmeen Abrar (Ex M.L. A), Member, National Commission for Women, New Delhi pointed out “The two major concerns of women’s development are still health and education. A strong woman is the future reflection of a girl child who has had a strong and nourished childhood.” She added “It is the concern and responsibility of the entire nation to protect, nurture and nourish girl children to help them become strong and powerful women of tomorrow.” Abrar appealed to all independent women to take the initiative of spreading the awareness of nourishing girl child far and wide and specially in the rural belts where there is an alarming dearth of awareness.

Dr. Ashok K.
