Students of AITTM carried out an “Anti Smoking and Anti Tobacco Chewing” Campaign as a part of Human Values Quarter
Students of Amity Institute of Telecom Technology and Management (AITTM) carried out an ‘ANTI SMOKING AND ANTI TOBACCO CHEWING’ campaign on 10th March’ 2011 for 3 hrs. A group of 26 students took an active part in the campaign. Their aim was to educate the rickshaw pullers about the evil effects of tobacco chewing. They aimed different metro stations of Noida.
A number of chart papers and posters on tobacco chewing and its evil effects were made. Students of B.Tech (E&T)-IIIrd Year bought NICORETTE gum from a little contribution made by them. Gums were distributed to people around the metro stations after they submitted their tobacco packets or cigarette packets. They also involved the on lookers in their campaign.
The students of AITTM spread awareness about harms and ill effects of tobacco chewing like mouth cancer and stomach ulcer. They basically promoted the theme of their campaign i.e. “healthy living without tobacco and smoking”.
Being educated by student’s campaign, the rickshaw pullers got motivated and deposited their tobacco sachets and cigarettes in a bag carried by the students.
The students have got a very positive response from the tobacco consumers for quitting tobacco. Some really wanted to get rid of the bad habit of tobacco consumption and promised to try Nicorette as a remedy. People around the metro stations were also very supportive and appreciative in making the campaign successful. Students said “It was an experience of a life time for being able to spread awareness for somebody’s better and healthier living and we hope to get such an opportunity again and again”.
