Quality Education is the key to India’s Economic Growth’ say Experts at Amity during Valedictory Function of Confluence 2011
The current technology revolution has made the world a smaller place. With technology getting integrated into the fabric of every individuals life, the world is a more connected and digitized place. At the same time the world is grappling for the right solution to the diverse challenges of security, protection and management. Keeping this in background Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET) in association with EMC2 Data Storage Systems Pvt. Ltd organized a two day IT summit (27th – 28th January, 2011), ‘Confluence’ 2011- The Next Generation Information Technology Summit’ on strategies for ‘Information Storage, Security and Compliance for Business Excellence’ at Amity University Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.
The Confluence brought together the leaders from IT Industry and diverse businesses on a common platform to discuss and deliberate on various approaches to the resolution of information management, security and compliance challenges in various business organizations.
The two day IT summit apprised the participants of the emerging technologies and their impact on the business’and ‘Understand the vision of the leaders of IT and their perspective of grappling with the Information Management and Security Challenges’
The Confluence concluded with a Valedictory Function which was graced by, Mr. Shankar Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Department of IT, Government of India. Delivering his Valedictory Address, Mr. Aggarwal said “Technological revolution is truly the lifeboat in a country like India where 450 million people (out of its 1.3 billion population) are below poverty line. Information Technology has been a great facilitator in allowing accessibility of knowledge even to those people who dwell in remote parts of the country. He added “Keeping pace with the IT advancement is of paramount importance today as it is only with the help of IT advancement India can prove its Intellectual wealth.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ajoy Kr. Ray, Vice Chancellor, Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shivpur said “ Confluence 2012 will be a truly international conference wherein Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shivpur will partner with Amity University to make it an unparallel success.”
Expressing her gratitude to the business leaders and the distinguished guests who made the event possible, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Director General, ASET & Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said “Confluence- 2011 proved to be an apt platform to discuss the requirements and understand the necessity to develop the new investigate tools and technologies for Scientific research and design. She expressed her hope that various informative sessions of the Confuence -2011, which would have been augmented the knowledge of everyone associated with the conference.
During his address at the Valedictory Function of Confluence 2011 Dr. Ashok. K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said “Internet is a genuine boon to India as it empowers the unparallel Indian brains with access to knowledge and upgraded information which enables the Indian intellect to stand parallel to the intellect of the world. He urged his students to practice and utilize the knowledge that they gained from the valuable sessions of Confluence 2011 and combine it with the virtues of Indian culture to prove their worth to the world.”
Congratulating the success of Confluence 2011 Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Rajasthan (AUR), Additional President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) said “Confluence 2011 is a true confluence of Industry and Academia. It has been an excellent learning exposure for students and budding IT professionals and an effective platform for the Industry leaders to trade in the latest trends in Information Tecnology.
The Valedictory Function of the Confluence was preceded by the ‘Industry Award Ceremony’, wherein Amity Leadership Awards were presented to the top notch Industry professionals from Aircel India, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, Apollo Hospitals, Samsung, India, Kotak Mahindra, Jet Airways, Microsoft and India Today Group. Also ‘Best Student Awards’ were conferred upon Mr. Paramjeet Singh and Ms. Tanvi Garg from of B Tech (IVth year) from Amity University.
The second day of the two day Confluence also included technical sessions and paper presentations on ‘Next Generation Computing Technology – Challenges & Future ahead’, ‘Cloud Computing and its Impact’, ‘Business intelligence, Analytics and Enterprise Performance Management’, ‘Information Security, Compliance & Business Trends-Technological Challenges and Strategies’, ‘Information Security and Management’, ‘Web Security and Compliance’ and ‘Industry Academia Collaborations – Issues and Road Ahead’ by eminent professionals, researchers, Scientists and academicians. While speaking on the theme “Information Security, Compliance & Business Trends- Technological Challenges and Strategies”, Mr. Pradeep Saluja, Principal Software Engineering Specialist, Symantec said, “information security is a major concern currently. The last ten years has gone through a different trend. People used to think that we are secured if network is protected. The security market is such that big organizations are capturing the smaller ones. New technologies are coming up everyday. Therefore, people should be made aware of technology threats. There are lots of challenges in this respect.” Mr. Saluja informed the gathering that Melware threat is a major challenge. As web-based technologies are developing with mobile devices, broad band etc. Today if we are browsing the net from our PC or mobile, 10 percent of the URL is pointed to malicious sites which are invisible. There is a multi-stage infection. They infect the machine and then connect to their home-sites to get the command control. In the process the PCs, mobiles and the devices used get infected. This has become a major threat to the personal and professional sites. Financial motivation is behind hacking, creation of malicious sites and advertisements.
The Valedictory Function & Industry Award Ceremony of Confluence 2011 was also attended by. Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Bansal, HOD (IT), ASET and Organizing Secretary, Confluence – 2011, Mr. Manoj Chugh, President India & SAARC, EMC Corporation and Co- Chairperson, Confluence -2011 and students and faculty members of ASET.
