“ACT-2011” – the annual Technical Cum Cultural Fest starts at Amity University Uttar Pradesh

The two day technical-cum-cultural Fest “ACT – 2011” by technical institutions of Amity kick started at the Amity Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.

ACT -2011 aims at providing a platform for industry, academia, and students for stimulating discussions and networking. Students from premier institutes of the country are participating in various competitions organized as part of “ACT-2011”such as Robotics, Junkyard Wars, Quiz, Debate, Research paper presentation and various writing sklls.

Eminent personalities present during the inauguration were Mr. Somenath Ghosh, CMD, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Mr. Prasanta Kumar Das, Country Manager & Practice Head – Public Sector Services, Hewlett Packard, Mr. GV Shashidhar, Vertical Head – Oil and Gas at Wipro Ltd. (Infotech), Mr. Neeraj Prakash, Director, Microsoft, Mr. Paramit Singh Sahai, CEO, EPA Infrastructure and Mr. A.K.Chopra, Director- HR& PR, LNG Petronet

Welcoming and addressing the august gathering, Dr. B. Shukla, Pro-VC (A), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Patron, ACT 2011, DG ASET said that “ACT 2011” is the ultimate amalgamation of innovation and creative. It is an initiative to make young minds think beyond the horizon, it is a representation of leadership at its best. ACT is an epitome of excellence in action where talent is merged with academics.

Sharing his views on “key drivers in the Globalized Economy” Chief Guest, Mr. Somenath Ghosh, CMD, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) said, “the needs of a country vary depending on the demand of the economy. Infrastructure building of a country is very essential. Every rupee utilized in the infrastructure contribute several times to the growth of Gross Domestic Product of the country. In a networked and a globalized country, the potential of the technological advancement should be properly harnessed, Recycling of the limited natural resources should be done, environmental degradation should be stopped, energy efficient technologies should be applied for various developmental purposes. All these measures can ensure that India becomes the driver of the globalized world.”

While sharing his experiences with the gathering, Mr. Prasanta Kumar Das, Country Manager & Practice Head – Public Sector Services, Hewlett Packard said “the Technical cum Cultural Festival is such a platform where students can socialize with corporate leaders and trendsetters, exchange ideas and network. Mr. Das further, opined that current student fraternity has plenty of options to choose a right career and progress. Therefore, it is their duty to understand where they want to take their lives. The challenge for the youth of current generation is to find solutions to the complex issues that are cropping everyday such as limited resources, harnessing of the advanced technogies, social and economic problems.

The souvenir of ACT-2011 was released by Maj. Gen. K. Jai Singh, VC, AUUP, Dr. B. Shukla, Pro-VC-(A), AUUP and the other dignitaries of the occasion.

Sandlas, DC, Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering, Research and Studies & Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, Dr. V.K. Jain, DG, Amity Institute of Advanced Research and Studies (M&D), Dr. V.K. Mathur, Director, School of Architecture & Planning and ASD and Prof. A.L. Verma, Head, Amity Institute of Astrological Science & Amity Institute of Earth Science.

Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management (AITTM), Amity Institute of Astrological Science (AIAS), Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering, Research and Studies (AIAERS), Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology (AISST), Amity Institute of Earth Science (AIES), Amity Institute of Renewable & Alternative Energy (AIRAE), Amity Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (AINST), Amity School of Architecture & Planning (ASAP), Amity School of Design (ASD) and Amity Business School (ABS) have jointly organized the Youth Festival.

During the evening, AITTM organized cultural performances by the students. Rock Band of ASET performed and entertained the audience which was followed by Fashion Show and Choreography by the students of Amity Institute of Fashion Technology.
