Amity International Business School celebrates festival Lohri
Amidst the freezing cold weather, with the temperature wobbling between minimum degree Celsius and the dense fog outside, everything seems stagnant in our daily lives. However, below the apparently frozen surface students of the fresh batch of AIBS were busy making preparations for Lohri — the long-awaited bonfire festival — when they can come out with there energized spirit and celebrate the togetherness and give in to relaxing and enjoying the traditional folk songs and dances. In the evening, with the setting of the sun, huge bonfire was lit in the campus with huge participation and immense support from our director ,faculties and students. The celebration commenced with the entry of Dr.Gurinder Singh, Director General, Amity International Business School & Pro VC (I), Amity University followed by faculty members with the rejuvenating sound of the dhols and nagadas.
All of them gathered around the rising flames, circled around (parikrama) the bonfire and threw puffed rice, popcorn and other munchies into the fire, shouting and singing popular folk songs. This is a sort of prayer to Agni, the fire god, to bless the land with abundance and prosperity. After the parikrama, the celebration was marked by an enthusiastic and vibrant bhangra performance organized by the cultural team, which encouraged one and all to dance to the tune of festivity and thus bringing an end to celebrating the end of the coldest month of the year.
