Luminaries from Corporate discuss “Winning Strategies through Competitive Intelligence” during a day long Seminar at Amity

Today’s business environment is marked by hyper- competition and thus requires focus on sustainable competitive advantage by pro- actively scanning the internal and external environment of the company.

Taking into consideration the growing importance of Competitive Intelligence coupled with the non- acceptance and ignorance of this fact on the part of the organized sector, Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Management organized a day long Seminar on the theme “ Winning Strategies through Competitive Intelligence” at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida to disseminate the efficacy of the Competitive Intelligence as a key business function amongst the students and Corporate fraternity.

Welcoming the august gathering, Maj. Gen Ashok Krishna- Director, Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Management highlighted the importance of Competitive Intelligence, which he termed as the “vital ingredient of vibrant economy”. Maj. Krishna stressed on the slow and gradual growth of competitive intelligence in the Indian business scenario since 2000 in the wake of complexities and paradoxes abounding the business world. Gen. Krishna remarked that only 20% of big Indian companies use Competitive Intelligence (CI) and small companies, which are completely ignorant about CI, need to be educated about the importance of Market Research and Competitive Intelligence in order to remain in the competition.

Sharing his views on “Strategy, Competitive Intelligence and Successful Strategies in Emerging Markets”, Mr. Sudharshan Banerjee- Business Growth Strategy Advisor correlated how use of CI is successful career on an individual level and success of an organization on societal level. Mr. Banerjee opined that bottom up approach rather than top down approach should be encouraged and followed in Indian Companies while devising the strategic framework as successful companies are successful because of successful strategies not because of successful strategists sitting at the top. Sharing few winning strategies from his vast repository of experience, Mr. Banerjee called upon the professionals and Corporate to continuously focus on “Disciplined Innovation”, “Out- thinking rather than Out- executing” and “ Giving best shot the very first time” to stay ahead of and outpace the competitors and rivals.

Giving the special address on “Practicing Competitive Intelligence for achieving set missions and goals”, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and a great Practitioner of Competitive Intelligence attributed the majority of his success to Competitive Intelligence, which he has been practicing, unknowingly, since he entered the business world as a young budding professional. Dr. Chauhan stressed that the there are numerous sources of information gathering when it comes to CI, but the best source is human source. Dr. Chauhan outlined the importance of understanding humans, their complex nature and psychology to succeed in any kind of a business.

During the occasion, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan announced to start a “Certificate Course in Competitive Intelligence” from next week which will immensely benefit the management students, budding professionals, young managers and corporate fraternity.

Addressing the distinguished gathering, Mr. Saumitro Sen- Director (Business Development), Cain Technologies said that 21st Century business environment is very dynamic and chaotic and the price a business entity has to pay failing to understand and adapt to the changing environment is too high. Talking about the winning strategies in 2020, Mr. Sen remarked “The way businesses are conducted today will be totally different in the future. There will be large scale restructuring in companies, new disciplines and jobs will emerge. There will be a greater need for accountability leading to transparency in all business related functions. The businesses have to build flexibility into their structure to counter and grapple with the dynamic environment.”

Also present during the inauguration were Ms. Preeti Pathak- Director (HR), Dell Services, Dr. Gurinder Singh- Pro Vice Chancellor (I), Amity University and Director General, Amity International Business School, Directors and Institutional Heads, Senior Members of the management of Amity and a host of luminaries from corporate world.

The inauguration was followed by Strategic Sessions wherein leaders from academia and Corporate including Mr. Venataraman- MD, BSI, Mr. Pradhuman Singh- Deputy Manager, DLF, Mr. Navroze Dhondy- Ex CEO Percept Advertising and Founder and Chairman of Creatifies Communications, Mr. Abhishek Pathak- Sr. Research Analyst, Management Consultancy Department, Orkash Services and others shared their experiences on “Competitive Intelligence and Risk Management” and “ Competitive Intelligence and Marketing” .
