“TRACE-2011” – National Conference on Trends and Recent Advances in Civil Engineering starts at Amity University Uttar Pradesh
The two day National Conference “TRACE- 2011” by Amity School of Engineering and Technology kick started at the Amity Campus, Sector – 125, Noida.
TRACE – 2011 aims at providing a platform for academicians, research scholars, industry experts and students to discuss various emerging trends, share research results and new directions in the field of Civil Engineering. From Harappa civilization to current town planning and urban development, civil engineering has its immense contribution.
The experts and speakers invited during the two day conference will dwell upon the tremendous advances in various fields related to Civil Engineering, integrated network technology and rapid evolution of smart techniques and devices.
The various sessions planned under TRACE – 2011 include research paper presentations and business/ technical sessions by lead speakers from the Industry as well as Academia.

Welcoming and addressing the august gathering,
Dr. B. Shukla, Pro-VC (A), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Patron, ACT 2011, DG ASET said, “The conference is first of its kind which would greatly benefit industry professionals, researchers, faculty members and young professionals in due course of time.” Further highlighting the current situation, she said, “the future generation should not suffer as there is lot of construction happening and resources are depleting. Alternatives to the limited underground resources are to find out. The two days conference will bring forth issues related to civil engineering including environment issues.
Sharing his views,
Dr. Gopal Dhawan, Executive Director (Geotechnical), National Hydro Electric Power Cooperation (NHPC) said, “no civilization can sustain without the civil engineers. Airports, roadways, tunnels, bridges are the modulations of the civil engineers. There is dearth of people in this arena. Therefore, more and more of young engineers are to be provided to the nations for its overall development. The future engineers can change the scenario by better understanding and adopting the advanced technologies.”

Dr. S Gangopadhay, Director, Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) said that infrastructural developments are taking place in a gigantic way in India. The government has shown great interest in such kind of developmental works. The civilizations are known from their roads. Therefore, the future civil engineers of the nation should learn various tactics and apply in their work for the development of the nation. The practical aspects of civil engineering are to be taught to the students from their initial stages of learning.
