AIATTR and AITTM Organize two day’s Tutorial Program on “Digitization of Cable TV Distribution system"

Amity Institute of Advanced Telecom Training & Research (AIATTR) under the able guidance of Lt. Gen. P.D. Bhargava , Director General - Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management (AITTM) successfully completed a two day’s tutorial program on “ Digitalization of Cable TV Distribution System”.

TRAI has recommended to Govt. of India to change cable TV network System from Analog to Digital in order to improve quality and add more number of Value Added Services. This program was effectively covered under Six different Modules by some of the leading speakers like Mr.Leszek Koltunski & Ms. Mayoori Nayak ,from ADB Global Switzerland, Mr.Ashok Kilam from HBE (Ericsson Sweden), Mr.Amit Goyal (Conax Norway), Mr. G.D. Pal (UT Star Com) , Mr.Praveen Dyta & Mr.Krishna Pullikullu from Magnaquest USA.

Six Modules were spread over two days, Day One started with an interactive session by Mr.Naseem Ahmad – Vice Chairman (AIATTR) on Why TRAI recommended Digitalization? , What are the implications for LSO & MSO, both in technical as well as financial terms & how is the consumer going to be benefited.

Mr. Ashok Kilam HBE (Ericsson Sweden), explained in detail regarding Digital TV Headend with various functions and gave a technical overview about the direction in which it will migrate. He explained in detail MPEG2 & MPEG4.

Mr.Leszek Koltunski, Ms.Mayoori Naik and Mr.Steve Nienaber from ADB Global Switzerland expressed their views on Set Top Box Technology , Role of Middleware & EPG/Portal along with necessary Technical Specifications & Glossary. ADB Global also gave live demonstration on the working of IPTV.

Day two started with Mr.Amit Goyal’s (Conax Norway), interactive session about the nuances of Conditional Access System along with its working, maintenance, Merits & Demerits.


Mr. G.D. Pal ( UT StarCom), spoke on Network Infrastructure , highlighting Coax, HFC and FTTH plant comparisons. He educated the audience about migration policy and various issues pertaining to GPON & GEPON. Lastly Mr. Pal gave a brief introduction about IPTV.

Mr. Praveen Dyta & Mr.Krishna Pulikullu from Magnaquest USA, emphasized on Subscriber Management System, Billing System, Operation Support System & Customer Relationship Management.

Participants for this program were from Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, M.P. , Rajasthan and Punjab.
