Amity Indian Military College organizes its 100th Military Training Camp

Amity Indian Military College (AIMC) has organized its 100th seven-day Military Training Camp (MTC) for the post graduate level students of Amity University from February 13th – 19th, 2011 at Amity Education Valley, Manesar.

Amity Education Valley is a sprawling 110 – acre estate in an eco – friendly environment that has several training facilities for the students inclusive of a Shooting Range, Para Sailing, Rock Climbing / Rappelling, obstacle course etc. The key objectives of the MTC are to inculcate an essence of camaraderie and brotherhood amongst the Post Graduate level students of different Institutions of Amity University, to provide facilities for adventure related training and sports activities in an eco – friendly environment and to expose the students to the essentials of physical well being and fitness.

The 100th MTC saw the enthusiastic participation of one hundred and seventy girl students from Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) and Amity University Rajasthan (AUR). During the camp students are given to wear Amity Cadet Corps uniform and are put through a rigorous seven – day training programme inclusive of Drill competition, Shooting competition, Tent Maintenance competition, Tug of war competition, weapon training, adventure activities, group exercises etc in tandem with motivational films and games.

During the penultimate day of the 100th MTC (February 18, 2011), a spirited debate competition was held on the topic - ‘In the prevailing scenario do you think a career in the Defense services is a good option for women’ wherein eight volunteer cadets presented their intelligent and convincing arguments for and against the notion. Ms. Anudeep Singh Kaur from AUUP was announced the winner of the Debate competion, Ms. S Mathew was announced the Runner up from AUR and Consolation prize went to Ms. Jasmine Bedi from AUUP.

Addressing the spirited audience, Lt. Gen Bopanna, Director General, Amity Indian Military Education Society (AIMES) informed that “All Amity students on joining Amity University undergo beneficial value addition courses in Behavioural Sciences capsule, foreign language and a unique seven – day MTC that is compulsory for the Post Graduate level students in addition to the specific disciplines they pursue

Gracing the occasion and congratulating the worthy participants of 100th MTC Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group said “The Amity Green Horns Military Training Camp is a unique programme aimed at imparting basic leadership sklls along with character qualities work - ethos in every Amitian at the Post Graduation level.” He added “All participants of the tented camp are sure to have a flaming career ahead of them as they have been uniquely trained and groomed in the way that is even beyond the imagination.” Overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the cadets of the 100th MTC Dr. Chauhan promised to shortly start a Military Training Camp even for the Under Graduate students of Amity.

Also present during the debate competition were Col. N. R Khambatta, Commmandant, Director, Amity Cadet Corps, Brig. S. K Bahl, Commandant, AIMC and faculty members of different institutions of AUR and AUUP.
