Volunteers have done a great Job says Mr. Michael Fennell- President, Commonwealth Games Federation
Quote from Mr. Mike Fennell- President, Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF)- The athletes have certainly enjoyed their time here and the delegates who have come along have also enjoyed and this is something which can be attributed to the people of Delhi and in particular, the volunteers of Commonwealth Games. We have brought in Amity University as a partner for this training programme. ensuring that the training programme is carried out effectively with all the volunteers.the end result was excellent. Talking about the key aspects of Volunteers Training Programme, Mr. Fennell asserted, "Undoubtedly, with volunteers training, its how you select them, how you train them and how they are allocated various duties that matters a lot. With countries like India which is very large, there is huge number of volunteers coming from a variety of background. Therefore, the very essential component to the preparation of volunteers is how they are trained in all aspects of games and how they relate to the people during the Games. The partnership of OC with Amity University has gone really well in training the volunteers, who are ensuring that everybody is in comfort and are making it an enjoyable experience for everyone associated with Games. Dwelling on the legacy that will be left behind after Commonwealth Games, Mr. Fennell opined, "most often when people talk about the legacy of the Games, they think about bricks and mortar, venues, transport, bridges and so on. But, to us, the most important legacy is the development of human capital and this will come in the area of sports through various the officiating persons deputed in various sports, who will immensely enhance their knowledge and experience but all the 22, 000 volunteers who are very eager and are in their continuous learning phase, will be the most important legacy of the Games because all these volunteers will gain an experience which will last for life time."
