Amity School of Engineering & Technology organised an Expert talk on ‘Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) & its Benefits’ on October 21, 2010 in I-2 Block Moot Court at Amity University Campus, Sec-125, Noida.

Mr. Shobhit Mathur, External Sales Consultant, Cordy Asia who has more than 18 years of rich experience in reputed organizatios like Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., SAP India Pvt. Ltd., EMC, Compaq Computer (India) Pvt. Ltd., and many more was invited to address the students on the concept of ERP, its implication & significance in the industry.

Prof. P. K Ananta Narayan, HOD, MAE, ASET, Prof. Abhay Bansal, HOD, IT, ASET, Prof. P .K Rohtagi, HOD, CRC, ASET along with the faculty members and third year & final year students of B.Tech. IT & B.Tech. MAE were present during the event.

Mr. Mathur began his session by emphasizing on the challenges in today’s competitive business environment and the need for automating business processes. He explained the concept of ERP- Enterprise Resource Planning, GRC- Governance, Risk & Compliance GRC with relevant examples from the organizations like Satyam, Ranbaxy, Toyota, Apple, BSNL etc., & made the session very informative, interesting & interactive with the assembled group.

Students were informed that the information portals are gateways to the ERP systems. Various types of IT systems used in the organizations viz., Transaction Processing System (TPS), Knowledge Work System (KWS), Management Information System (MIS), Decision Support System (DSS), Executive Support System (ESS) etc., were also briefed.

Mr.Shobhit Mathur enlightened the gathering on various ERP systems -SAP, Oracle, MS-Office etc., used by the MNCs & the decisive factors to choose ERP systems eg., packaged software, customer support and many more. He concluded his session by answering students’ queries on how they can study the concept further to make a career on it, difference in cloud computing & ERP, usage of ERP in small scale businesses etc.

At the end, Prof. P K Ananta Narayan felicitated Mr. Shobhit Mathur with a Memento as a token of gratitude on behalf of Amity School of Engineering & Technology and Prof. P K Rohatagi presented the vote of thanks to the distinguished guest for sparing his valuable time to deliver the wonderful session and the gathering for attentive listening & participation.
