Shri Shashank, Former Foreign Secretary, Govt. of India delivers lecture on Current Situation in Myanmar

Shri Shashank, Former Foreign Secretary, Government of India delivered lecture at Amity on the topic "CURRENT SITUATION IN MYANMAR".

Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation welcomed Shri Shashank.
Dr. Chauhan said that it is a proud moment for Amity that a personality like Shri Shashank is with us. This was AIE's eighty-third lecture in this series.

Sharing his experiences as a bureaucrate, Mr. Shashank was of the opinion that the situation in Myanmar directly affects India. On one hand India has to continue its ties with Myanmar's Military Junta on the other hand India has to see that China does not get undue advantage over Myanmar. India has a very old relations with Myanmar, before independence, Myanmar was known as Burma and was part of British India.

Mr. Shashank is a retired Foreign Secretary of the Government of India. He has held many important positions before becoming the Foreign Secretary. Earlier he was Ambassador of India to Denmark, Republic of Korea, Libya and High Commissioner to Malta. He was also Minister (Political), and Dy. High Commissioner in Pakistan and had held Senior positions in Indian Missions in New York, Brussels, Hanoi and Cairo. He is a fluent speaker and an erudite scholar. He is currently involved with many Think-Tanks specializing in Economic and Political subjects. He has done extensive studies on Myanmar. He is also an Expert Commentator on International Affairs.
