Top CEO's of Tourism industry came to Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism to celebrate World Tourism Day

Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism organized its 3rd Convention on “Tourism Destination India: challenges and opportunities” on the occasion of World Tourism Day at Amity Campus, Sec- 125 Noida.

Inaugurating the convention, the Chief Guest Sh. Subhash Goel, Managing Director STIC Group of Companies & President IATO shared several tips with students of AITT on how to develop this tourism sector and outlined the challenges faced by this sector. He said that tourism is of a topical interest to millions of people worldwide and is the biggest revenue generating sector of any country. This industry has a multiplier affect on economy since it helps all other sectors of economy like food, agro industry, textile industry , aviation, service sector, be it carpenters or electricians. It provides job opportunities to millions of people According to World Travel and Tourism Council, in the next 10 – 15 years India and China will be the fastest growing tourist destinations. Therefore, there is a need to refurbish this whole sector to meet the future demand. Advising the students on how to climb the ladder of success he said, “With the world becoming global one must always think of competing globally, being pro- active and persistent.”

Mesmerizing the students with his motivational tips, Mr. Himmat Anand, Chief Operating Officer (India and S. Asia) - SITA Travels called upon students to be honest and diligent in their work. Identifying the challenges faced by Tourism industry, he expressed his views on the “Garbage Tourism” which serves as a deterrent to the growth of this industry and opined, “We feel proud to clean our homes but what about garbage littered on streets?” He provided an insight to students on poor infrastructure of India, which needed change.

Addressing the august gathering, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, said that over the past few years, Travel & Tourism industry had to contend with a series of unprecedented challenges like terrorism, economic turbulence which have led to significant changes in Travel & Tourism demand. Government has started realizing that it cannot leave Travel & Tourism growth to chance. This emerging global consciousness represents a great opportunity for this industry. The clarion call is to create a new vision and strategy for Travel & Tourism, a vision that would involve a coherent partnership between all stakeholders, public and private, to strengthen industry efforts and turn future challenges into opportunities.

Giving a brief about the convention Dr. Manohar Sajnani, Dy. Director, AITT said “The motive of this convention is to foster awareness in the community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values”. Outlining the objective of AITT, Dr. Sajnani said, “Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism (AITT) is committed to provide an efficient and a professional learning environment, where students are chiseled to excel in their respective industry. AITT firmly believes that tourism can improve the quality of life globally and incessantly works towards its implementation.”

The function concluded with spellbound performances by AITT students showcasing India’s culture and patriotism.. Col P. Shashidaran, Country Head- Orbit, Col. Sumant Bhatia- Director, B-Colonels Worldwide and several other dignitaries and senior officials from Amity and tourism industry graced the occasion.
