Over 17,000 Graduands receive their Degrees and Diplomas during the 19th Convocation for the Class of 2023, held at Amity University

 Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus organized its 19th Convocation for the Class of 2023, wherein more than 17,000 Graduands were awarded degrees, diplomas, certificates, medals and trophies from different domains including Management, Engineering and Technology, Allied Sciences, Agriculture, Rehabilitation Sciences, Law, Journalism, Mass Communication, Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Fashion Technology, and others.

 

On this occasion, Honorary Doctorate was conferred upon Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR (Department of Scientific & Industrial Research) & DG, CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research), Dr. Bhaba Nanda Das, Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi and Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman, Centre for Sight, New Delhi. In addition, Honorary Professorship was conferred upon Dr. Rakesh Mahajan, MBBS & MS (AIIMS), Senior Consultant Endovascular and Vascular Surgeon, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi and Dr. Sanjiv Kandhari, MD & Consultant Dermatologist, Dr. Kandhari's Skin & Dental Clinic, New Delhi. In addition, Honorary Professorship was conferred upon Dr. Rakesh Mahajan, MBBS & MS (AIIMS), Senior Consultant Endovascular and Vascular Surgeon, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi and Dr. Sanjiv Kandhari, MD & Consultant Dermatologist, Dr. Kandhari's Skin & Dental Clinic, New Delhi.

Delivering her acceptance speech, Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary, DSIR (Department of Scientific & Industrial Research) & DG, CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) averred “I’m highly honoured and privileged to be present here today at Amity to receive the Honorary Doctorate. Today Amity is the number one institution in India and number three in Asia. The day is not far when Amity will become the topmost University of the world and we all will celebrate that day. Today, we are in an era where everyone including the common man, industrialists, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, learned people and youngsters strongly believe that if we all want to live happily on earth, only one thing is required and that is science and technology and very soon India is going to lead the world in science and technology. The country is full of young and energetic minds, which will make it the leader in every field. Amity is not just an institution, but it is a movement and little drops of water will only make the mighty ocean. The movement has already started so let us all resolve to make India very proud since the whole world is looking at India. This is the century for India and Indians should gear up in the field of science and technology. Whatever great heights you may reach, you must tell yourself only one mantra that ‘my best is yet to come’.”

 

Expressing his extreme pleasure on this occasion, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group stated, “Amity Alumni are the most distinguished Alumni in the world, with good sanskaars and values imbibed in them.” He called upon the students to always remember the pains that their parents have taken for them and show utmost respect and love for them. “Make a mission and work towards it with all your sincerity and hard work. Indians are the best in the world, and no one can match Indians in terms of knowledge, intelligence and wisdom. God’s blessings are always with those who work for the nation, therefore, courageously face all challenges and always be ready to help others since the entire world is one family.”, opined Dr. Chauhan.

 

Graciously accepting the Honorary Doctorate, Dr. Bhaba Nanda Das, Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, said, “I am grateful to Amity University for this honour, and to my friends and family for their constant support and encouragement. The honour bestowed upon me by Amity University is a testament to the power of collaboration and collective efforts. As I accept the Honorary Doctorate, I’m reminded of the responsibility that comes with it and I wish to use my skills and knowledge for the betterment of the society.”

 

Accepting the Honorary Doctorate from Amity, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman, Centre for Sight, New Delhi, asserted, “The discipline, aura and vibrancy of Amity University campus is mesmerising. This is a place where a person can really grow and dream big. India has a huge youth power, which will make it the best nation in the world and the holistic education provided by Amity is going to take the nation forward.  The research initiatives undertaken by Amity are highly impressive and I would love to get associated with Amity students, guide and mentor them.” Explaining the term BHAG which stands for “Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG)”, he advised the students to work for the growth of the country, come out of their comfort zone, become good learners and be passionate towards their goals since there are no short cuts to success.

Highlighting the pioneering accomplishments of Amity University in the previous academic year, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Amity is a leading scientific research and innovation driven University where holistic development of students is of utmost importance. With more than 200 value-added Programmes, over 20,000 research papers published, more than 2000 patents filed and more than 40 Technology Transfers, Amity has been rewriting and reshaping the educational sector, under the visionary leadership of our Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan.” She congratulated all the Graduands, wished them success in their future endeavors and called upon the students to be strong, hard- working, sincere and keep the flag of Amity flying high.

 

During Convocation-2023, 232 Shri Baljit Shastri Award for “Best in Human & Traditional Values”, 24 Corporate Awards and 60 “Best All Rounder Trophies” were awarded to the students. In addition, 380 PhDs, 692 academic medals and 72 Appreciation Certificates were also presented.
