International Conference on Innovation in Visual Arts, “ICIVA-2023”
held at Amity University
Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized an International Conference on Innovation in Visual Arts, “ICIVA-2023”, on the theme, “Art & Life: Lifestyle for Environment”.
Sharing his views during the Inaugural Session, Mr. Prayag Shukla, Eminent Art Critique & Artist, stated, “Everyone is an artist since we all are performing some role in our lives. I have learnt from great artists such as M.F Hussain and Himmat Shah and by observing what they conveyed through their art, I came to know about the different perspectives of an artist to look at the same things differently. Contemporary artists are focusing on visual arts and artists never stop observing or thinking. Art makes our lives new every moment and I’m always inspired to learn from the new generation since they are full of new ideas and innovations.”
Addressing the art students of Amity, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts, averred, “The Conference will be highly beneficial for art students since it will help in enhancing their knowledge about the new techniques being used in visual arts. People used to say that AI will take over everything, but there should be a balance between technology and human aspect, in all art forms rather than just depending on technology.”
Highlighting the connection between art and lifestyle, Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, CEO JUXT Consultant, asserted, “There is a strong connection between art and lifestyle. Many years ago, our environment was completely natural and there were a lot of rivers, trees and open forests in our surroundings. But as civilizations evolved, natural surroundings started to deteriorate, and man-made or manufactured environment started emerging. Today, we are living in a man-made environment and therefore, today’s art is also inspired by technology and we see more of abstract art, modern art and digital art these days. Art is a subset of lifestyle and lifestyle is a subset of the environment therefore, an artist should be clear as to what they want to convey through their art since it has an impact on the society.”
Deliberating upon “Art Experience Post Pandemic Community”, Prof. Jon Jicha, School of Art and Design, Western Carolina University, U.S.A, stated, “There has been a paradigm shift in art forms post the pandemic and like other areas, technology has impacted art forms, which can be seen in virtual and contemporary art. Digital Art is becoming very popular in the era of technology and artists must evolve and learn innovative skills and techniques to stay relevant in the current scenario.”
Welcoming the guests on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Director General, Faculty of Applied Arts / Fine Arts/Performing Arts / Visual Arts, Amity University, stated, “Today, the global art market is worth $68 billion approximately and growing at 12 per cent annually. The Conference will provide a platform to budding artists to share their knowledge through various Technical Sessions pertaining to Visual Art. In this one-day conference, research scholars from Visva Bharati University, MIT Pune, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University and many other renowned institutions will present their research papers and share their knowledge with the students.”
During the day-long Conference, Technical Sessions on “Unconventional Art Trends – New Media Arts”, “Art Aesthetics & Philosophy” and “Visual Communication & Art” were also conducted by renowned art critics, artists and experts. Research Papers on different topics were also presented during the conference.
