A delegation comprising of Prof. Engobo Emeseh, Director & Head, Bradford Law School, UK and Prof Neeti Shikha, Faculty at Bradford Law School, UK, visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, to deliberate upon the problems of Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change.

Sharing her views on “Environmental Regulations and Just Transitions”, Prof. Engobo Emeseh, Director & Head, Bradford Law School, stated, “Bradford Law School respects people of every country of the world and I have come here to strengthen the mutual cooperation between the two institutions, i.e. Amity University and Bradford Law School. Today the world is changing very fast, and it is an exciting time for the youth to create a better world through emerging technologies.. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an International Treaty created in 1992, aims to stabilize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and combat dangerous human interference with the climate. All countries must take the common responsibility to comply with the environmental law of climate change. We should aim at ensuring the availability of energy for all countries by paying attention to energy security, energy availability and environmental problems. Not only the industry but all of us must ensure that innovative solutions are provided to the problem of climate change and clean fuel must be made available before banning burning fossil fuel. The youth must come forward and address the challenge of climate change through science, innovation and technology.”

Deliberating upon the topic, "Climate Change and its effect on Environment", Ms. Neeti Shikha, Faculty, Bradford Law School, UK, averred, “The Companies Act 2013 has mentioned a lot in the context of environment and the responsibility of the directors of the company towards the environment has been delegated. India is the first country where environment has been included in CSR, though. great initiatives are being taken by the governments of different countries in this context.” She also called upon the students to create new laws and regulations in the context of environmental protection.

Highlighting the "Importance of Judicial Academy in order to give training to the Students for the Competitive Examinations", Justice Rajesh Tandon, Judge (Retd.), Uttarakhand High Court, said, “The theme chosen for the programme is very apt and the budding lawyers must actively participate in addressing the problems and challenges of a sustainable environment.” Citing the example of Kedarnath flood, he emphasized upon preventing the imbalance of nature and ensuring environmental protection.

Welcoming the guests, Prof (Dr) Aditya Tomer, Additional Director, Amity Law School, said, Such programs encourage law students to think beyond the classroom and books. At Amity, we always make students aware of their responsibilities towards the environment and provide them various opportunities to attain knowledge and work for societal benefit and nation building.”

The deliberations were followed by a Q&A Session, wherein the questions of the students were answered by the delegation and the programme concluded with felicitation of guests.
