Amity University organizes a Guest Lecture on “Supporting Risk in Science, Technology and Innovation for an Atmanirbhar Bharat” by Prof. Alok Dhawan, Director, Centre of BioMedical Research (CBMR)
Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Supporting Risk in Science, Technology and Innovation for an Atmanirbhar Bharat” by Prof. Alok Dhawan, Director, Centre of BioMedical Research (CBMR).
Deliberating upon “Supporting Risk in Science, Technology and Innovation for an Atmanirbhar Bharat” topic, Prof. Alok Dhawan, Director, Centre of BioMedical Research (CBMR), averred, “India has always been at the forefront of cutting-edge Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), primarily due to the risk-taking appetite of its people at the micro level but more so because of its governance structure at the macro level. Over the centuries, Indians have developed frugal technologies that have made it one of the most sustainable and self-dependent countries of the world. More recent examples have been in the sector of food grains, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, health, etc. and the recent policies to support risk in STI is yet another example of how this risk-taking ability can make a new world order for the future.”
Emphasizing upon the key attributes for carrying out research, Prof. Dhawan, said, “Feasibility, viability and desirability are the three basic factors which must be borne in mind before carrying out any research work. There is a famous saying that sky is the limit and I have coined another term, “SKI” which stands for Science, Knowledge and Innovation, through which anything can be achieved and the impossible becomes possible. One must spot the opportunity, avoid herd mentality, and pay great attention to even the minutest details, in order to solve a problem. Great observation leads to great research and being passionate about the area of your research is extremely crucial. Team spirit and building trust, along with the attributes of inquisitiveness and creativity lead to great innovation. Another very important aspect is that a research study must incorporate the recommendations to the industry so that amendments can be made and new guidelines and initiatives can be implemented.”
He concluded his talk by saying that the Prime Minter has given the motto of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan and Jai Anusandhan”, which shows that India will become the hub of research and innovation during the “Amrit Kaal” and lead the world through Science & Technology.”
Sharing his words of wisdom, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, stated, “This has been the most outstanding and memorable lecture at Amity, through which the brilliant scientists of Amity, along with the HOIs and HODs, attained great knowledge and learning which will be immensely beneficial for them. Prof. Dhawan is not only a highly distinguished scientist but also a great motivator who inspires people through his powerful words. Each one of us must imbibe the attributes which he emphasized upon during his lecture and implement and incorporate the various facets which he dwelled upon, in their research work.”
Highlighting the significance of the Guest Lecture, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation, stated, “Amity has emerged as a cradle of innovation, wherein scientists are working day and night on various path-breaking, unique innovations. There has been a remarkable positive transformation in India under the visionary leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister, through initiatives such as “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and “Make for the World” and Amity’s mission is in complete sync with these initiatives, to foster research and innovation, thereby contributing to nation building. Today’s lecture will be very enlightening and will also as a source of inspiration for Amity scientists who will receive great insights and learning through the lecture.”
The lecture concluded with a Round Table Discussion, wherein the researchers of Amity asked their questions and received insightful information from Prof. Alok Dhawan on various aspects of research, science and technology.
