Amity University Innovation, “Ami Aqua Tester”, transferred to the Industry for the benefit of common masses

 Directorate of Innovation and Technology Transfer (DITT), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, signed a Technology Transfer Agreement with Glorisa Technovation Private Limited for the transfer of its technology “Ami Aqua Tester for Detection of Chromium in Water”, developed by Dr. V.K. Jain, Distinguished Scientist & Professor, Amity Institute of Advanced Research and Studies (AIARS) (Materials and Devices) and his team.

 

Expressing his pleasure on Signing the Technology Transfer Agreement with Amity, Mr. Sandeep Agarwal, Co-Founder & Director, Glorisa Technovation India Private Limited, said, “Glorisa Technovation is extremely proud and delighted to sign the Agreement with Amity. The device developed by Amity scientists will be very useful in removing chromium from water and make it safe for drinking and accordingly devise the strategies for making the product available in the market.”

 

Delivering the Keynote Address, Dr. Praveen Arora, Head, Water Technologies Cell Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, averred, “It is a momentous occasion today when this Technology Transfer Agreement is being signed between Amity and Glorisa Technovation. Since the year 2007, DST has been supporting the projects which are dedicated to find solutions to the existing problems and challenges of safe drinking water. Our prime focus is on providing safe drinking water and the device developed by Amity scientists is a smart handheld device which will detect the presence of chromium, a harmful substance, in water. Dr. V.K. Jain and his team have done a remarkable work by developing this device and it is testimony of our commitment to enhance the lives of people and drive prosperity and growth for the society at large.”

Congratulating the team of Amity and Glorisa Technovation, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated, “This Technology Transfer is the beginning of a meaningful collaboration between the academia and the industry, which aims to benefit the society and the environment, through research and innovation. The technology transfer will add value to the scientific development of the country and both, the institution as well as the company, will mutually benefit from the same.”

Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Chairman, Directorate of Innovation and Technology Transfer (DITT), stated,” It is a matter of immense pride and pleasure for Amity as its technology is being transferred to the industry for the benefit of the society. The aim of the research and innovation should be societal benefit along with wealth generation. Amity is the cradle of innovation wherein great scientists and their teams work hard day and night to develop path-breaking innovations and contribute to nation building.”

Explaining about ‘Ami Aqua Tester for Detection of Chromium in Water’, Dr. V.K. Jain, Distinguished Scientist & Professor, AIARS(M&D), asserted, “We cannot do research and innovation without infrastructure and Amity provides the right support not only in terms of the infrastructure but also very hard-working researchers who work tirelessly on developing new technologies. It is also crucial that a multidisciplinary approach is adopted so that experts from different streams can brainstorm together and come up with innovative ideas, technologies and products. The device is very useful in detecting the presence of chromium in water, particularly in the industrial areas around rivers such as Ganga and solve the problem of pure drinking water, which is a common problem in urban areas.”

The Agreement was signed by Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Kapur, Offciating Registrar, AUUP and Mr. Sandeep Agarwal, Co-Founder & Director, Glorisa Technovation India Private Limited and the Agreement Signing Ceremony was attended by eminent scientists and researchers of Amity.
