Amity University organizes the Screening of National Award-Winning Film "Oh, That's Bhanu”
Amity School of Film and Drama and Amity School of Communication, Amity University organized the screening of the National Award-Winning Film "Oh, That's Bhanu”, at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus.
The Film has won the Award for Best Direction, Golden Lotus (Swarna Kamal) during the 68th National Film Awards and Bala Kailasam Memorial Award for Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking, presented by Cinema Rendezvous.
The Film captures the life story of dancer and theatre actor Bhanumati Rao, an elegant and witty woman, whose ears and memory have fallen weak, has led an enigmatic, passionate, yet a simple and pragmatic life. With her, the filmmaker goes on a journey of life and performance, through the spasms of memory, relationships, and a reflection of what could constitute a beautiful mind.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned Documentary Filmmaker, Mr R. V. Ramani, said, “The film is inspired by the real story of Bhanumati Rao, who happens to be the mother of my friend, Maya Krishna Rao. The film starts with casual meeting with Bhanumati and when I held her hand, I felt an instant connection with her. The film is all about the longingness and desire to be with someone. I chose this character since I believe in showcasing the real life struggles of people and the film aims to understand their feelings which they are unable to express through words.”
Welcoming the guest, Prof. Somnath Sen, Deputy Head, Amity School of Film and Drama, said, “Amity is extremely delighted and proud to host the screening of the National Award- Winning Film, “Oh That’s Bhanu”. The idea behind organizing the workshop was to make the students understand and imbue the logistics and aesthetics of documentary filmmaking. During the workshop, students showed their shot footage to Mr. R.V. Ramani who gave critique feedback on the footage. He worked with students on fine-tuning their editing for the making of a coherent film. The final step included showcasing the edited films to the faculty members of Amity School of Film and Drama.
