Amity University celebrates “Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav”

Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus celebrated Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav with great enthusiasm, on the occasion of the Janma Jayanti of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati, a multi-linguist and freedom fighter, with the aim to promote “Language Harmony" amongst the students and the youth by celebrating the rich cultural oneness of our nation through various activities. The event was organized as a part of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, commemorating 75 years of India’s independence.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. D.K. Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, averred, “India is a country with diverse culture and a rich linguistic heritage, however, it is the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” which is celebrated across the country, where each and every language is recognized and respected. The National Education Policy 2020 highlights multilingualism and visualises Indian languages as a great tool for national unity. It implies that the students of the country should be encouraged to learn the importance of Indian languages under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative.”

On this occasion, vibrant cultural programmes based on the historical background of different regions of the country, depicting language diversity through folk songs, creative performances, folk dances and street plays, were also held, which mesmerized the audience. In addition, a quiz competition, essay writing competition, elocution competition, classical music competition and “My Language, My Signature” Campaign, were also organized, wherein students of various institutions of Amity including Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Science, Amity School of Foreign Languages, Amity Institute for Sanskrit Studies and Research, Amity Institute of Education, Amity Institute of Corporate Communication and Amity Law School, participated with great enthusiasm.

The highlight of the event were the food stalls put up by the students of Amity Institute of Education, wherein delicious food snacks from different states such as Chana Chaat of Bihar, Maharashtra’s Bhelpuri, Flour Laddus of Haryana and many other regional snack cuisines, were made available for the visitors.

Apart from the above, a Tech Zone consisting of tech-savvy amenities and facilities showing different tools and software that students may use to learn, read and write in multiple languages, was also created.
