International Conference on Fashion Apparel and Textile-2022(INCFAT’22), commences at Amity

 

Amity School of Fashion Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, organized a two-day International Conference on Fashion Apparel and Textile-2022(INCFAT’22) on the theme, “Advancements in Fashion and Textiles: Emerging Opportunities”, from 14th-15th November 2022.

Sharing his views on the occasion, Mr. Jayant Kochar, MD- Go Fish Retail Solutions, Formerly MD of Lacoste India, Founder MD Barista, averred, “Innovation and quality are of utmost importance when it comes to fashion Technology. New techniques must be adapted, and trends must be kept in mind, however, it’s the quality of the end -product which attracts customers to buy them.”

Emphasizing upon the Government’s initiatives in the Textiles Sector, Mr. Lalit Thukral, President, Noida Apparel Export Cluster, Executive Member, AEPC, stated, “Uttar Pradesh Government is investing a lot in the infrastructure in the textile industry, with the proposed Apparel Park which would be spread over 100 acres, in the Noida region. Uttar Pradesh is also being developed as a Garment Hub by the government and the government is taking many initiatives for the growth of this sector in this region.”

Highlighting the emerging opportunities in the Fashion Industry, Mr. Rajeev Bansal, Managing Director, Celestial Knits & Fabs Pvt. Ltd., asserted, “There is an immense potential in the fashion industry today. New business opportunities are emerging, and the industry is growing by leaps and bounds. The domestic Indian market is doing well as the buying power has increased and people are becoming fashion conscious Sustainable fabrics and technical textiles with added benefits such as “sweat absorption” are gaining popularity which shows a growing trend in this sector. Students of Amity must utilize these opportunities and can also start their own venture as there is a lot of scope and the industry looks promising, in the current scenario.”

Advising the students of Amity, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fashion Technology, said, “The Conference is highly beneficial for the students of Amity and by listening to each one of the accomplished speakers and industry experts, students can enhance their learning and develop their skills. They must utilize this opportunity to the fullest so that they can contribute to the society and make their country proud.”

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ram Sareen, Chairman and Founder, Tukatech Los Angeles, CA U.S.A, stated, “Future Fashion Designers must act responsibly and should be able to add value to the society by using sustainable fabrics and textiles, thereby caring for the environment. The new generation of Fashion Designers must learn and adopt new technologies. At an institution like Amity, their learning can be further enhanced and skills can be developed by the highly accomplished faculty and experts of this domain.”

Ms. Varija Bajaj, Eminent Fashion Designer, Varija Lifestyles, averred, “In the fashion Technology Sector, the trends and technology change very fast. Therefore, it is imperative to keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies. Technology has evolved tremendously over the last few years and therefore, the opportunities have also increased in the fashion sector. Also, online fashion has created a lot of opportunities which did not exist earlier. More and more people are buying apparel and accessories online due to convenience and the plethora of options available to them online. Data Analysis, Human Resource Development and Analysis of Global Supply Chains can really help the fashion industry to grow and develop further.” 

Speaking about the fast-evolving Fashion trends, Mr. Vijay Mathur, DG & CEO and Executive Director, Apparel Training and Design Center, stated, “Fashion changes very fast therefore it is essential to keep up pace with the changing trends and come up with innovative styles and designs to suit the needs of the customers. Non-woven materials, Digital Textile Printing and Green Washing in Textiles are some of the emerging trends in the fashion technology sector. The need of the hour is to formulate customer-friendly HR Policies to deal with the consumers and find quick solutions to their problems.” 

During the two-day Conference, 4 Technical Sessions on relevant themes including “Emerging Trends in the Business of Fashion”, “Sustainable Fashion”, “Innovations in Textile & Apparel” and “Technological Advancements in Apparel Industry”, were conducted. In addition , Research Papers were presented on various topics including  “Business Strategy for Entrepreneurship Development: A Case of Handloom Clusters in Odisha” by Dr Santosh Kumar Tarai, NIFT Bhubaneswar , “ Emerging trends of fashion E-business in college going students” by Ms. Himani Saini, KVA DAV College for Women, “Entrepreneurship for Fashion and Textile”, by Ms. Sabira Fernandes, Whistling Woods International” and “Virtual visual experiences of fashion products on consumer purchase decision making in online experiential shopping” by Ms. Anthima Ram, Woxsen University”,  amongst others.
