Amity University celebrates World Pharmacist Day
Amity Institute of Pharmacy (AIP), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, organized a Programme to commemorate “World Pharmacist Day” in association with Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association – Student Forum (IPGA-SF).
Advising the students of Amity, Guest of Honor, Dr. Arun Garg, General Secretary, IPGA, averred, “IPGA was established in 1973 and since then it has been organizing conferences, workshops and seminars to spread awareness about Pharmacy as a profession. The IPGA- Student Forum consists of young and dynamic leaders who are the shining stars of the Pharma industry. Students of Pharmacy should be proud of themselves as they have a huge responsibility when it comes to offering the right advice and guidance regarding the usage of medicines, as there is a lack of awareness regarding the same. Students must think out-of-the-box and enhance their knowledge and skills in order to share the best guidance regarding prevention of diseases too. They must set an example by conducting Awareness Programmes in their society, and thereby contribute to the society and nation-building. For e.g., they must create awareness about diseases such as Dengue, in their own communities and teach people about preventive measures and medical prescription. Effective communication and a good personality are the key attributes, required for being a successful pharmacist. Amity students should also be a part of IPGA and transform the society, in the field of healthcare.”
Addressing the gathering during the Inaugural Programme, Dr. Sandeep Arora, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, said, “The aim of the Programme is to create awareness about the role of a pharmacist in the society. A pharmacist has a huge responsibility in terms of providing good assistance and sound advice to patients when it comes to medical prescriptions and primary healthcare. Customized care and precision medicine are of utmost importance, along with ensuring uniformity in the quality of medicine, manufacturing, production, supply and logistics.”
Welcoming the guests on this occasion, Dr. Tanveer Naved, Professor, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, said, “The Programme has been organized for budding pharmacists so that they can enhance their skills and understand their integral role in the society. The role of Pharmacists was recognized and brought to the forefront in a big way, during the Pandemic. Pharmacies were open 24*7 and people realized the significance of pharmacists and medicines. There is a huge potential in the young generation to become a successful and leading pharmacist and this Programme will develop a sense of belongingness and camaraderie amongst the students so that together they can contribute to the society by being a great, responsible pharmacist.”
During the one-day Awareness Programme, a Pharma Quiz, Group Discussion, Tug of War, Label Making, Poster Making, Skit Performance and Sports Activity will be conducted for the students and winners will be announced at the end of the day. A seminar on the theme, “Pharmacy- Do I know my Profession”, will also be conducted by Mr. Manas Ranjan Rout, Founder and CEO of Cognitrex Consultant Pvt Ltd.
