Amity University organizes a CRE Programme on “Management of Children with Non-verbal Learning Disability in Inclusive Set-up”

Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, organized a two-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) Programme on “Management of Children with Non-verbal Learning Disability in Inclusive Set-up”, from 8th-9th September 2022, in virtual mode.
Addressing the gathering during the Valedictory Programme, Chief Guest, Shri Himanshu Gupta (IAS), Director, Directorate of Education, Government of NCT, averred, “There is a dire need of teachers who can educate and take care of the holistic development of children with disabilities. The Programme conducted by Amity is a huge step in recognizing the need for empowering of children with Non-verbal Learning Disability. The aim of Directorate of Education is to hire and train 1,000 special education teachers for disabled children. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji has also released, “Prashast”, a disability screening checklist for schools, which will help regular teachers and special educators to screen children at preliminary levels and refer them for further identification at assessment camps. Directorate of Education and Amity will work collaboratively in this direction and contribute to the noble cause of empowering children with disabilities.”
Sharing his views on the occasion, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, said, “The theme of the Programme is very pertinent considering the number of disabled children who are deprived of opportunities due to their disabilities. Amity is proud to be associated with such a noble cause and aims to work tirelessly, through collaborative research, to transform the situation of disabled children and bring them at par with the mainstream society. Children are the future of the country and by giving them equal opportunities in every field and empowering them, they can become remarkable leaders, in different field. Through, research & innovation, which is the main focus of Amity, new technologies will be developed through for children with special disabilities.”
Welcoming the guests on this occasion and presenting a report of the two-day Programme, Prof. (Dr.) Jayanti Pujari, Director, Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, said, “The aim of the Programme was to create an awareness about Non-verbal Learning Disability and holistic development of students with these disabilities. The Programme included participation from 13 states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala, amongst others. The Programme has been highly beneficial for all the participants and Amity Research Scholars are already working on developing new technologies by which children with Non-verbal Learning Disability, can be empowered and the problem can be cured completely.”
During the two-day Programme, insightful sessions by eminent experts on diverse topics including, “Recent Development and Changes in the field of Specific Learning Disability”, “Understanding Non-verbal Learning Disability”, “Teacher Perspective on Management of Children with Non-verbal Learning Disability”, “Intervention strategies: Social Emotional Learning in School Set Up” and “Inclusion of Students with Non-verbal Learning Disability: Current Scenario”, were held amongst others and the participants shared their experiences and learning outcome of the CRE Programme during the Valedictory Programme.
