Ms. Chalamalla Ikshitha, a student of Amity University, the only Indian selected for Erasmus Mundus SARENA Scholarship 2022

Ms. Chalamalla Ikshitha, student of B.Tech (Nuclear Science & Technology 2018-2022 batch), Amity Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (AINST), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, is the only Indian who has been selected for Erasmus Mundus SARENA Scholarship 2022 to pursue her masters in Nuclear Reactor Operation & Safety (NROS) Program in Europe. She was felicitated by the Hon'ble Governor of Telangana state, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, in recognition of her achievement.
Expressing extreme delight on the student’s achievement, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “We are extremely proud of our student Chalamalla Ikshitha, as she becomes the only Indian to be selected for the prestigious Erasmus Mundus SARENA Scholarship 2022. Amity students have always shown their outstanding skills and exemplary brilliance in academics, and we are sure they will be able to leave their mark on the world. Amity has been focused on Research & Innovation as it will contribute to nation- building, therefore. Amity is preparing Scientists of tomorrow and making them future-ready, who will lead the country on the path of research-led, scientific development.”
Ecstatic about her achievement, Ms. Chalamalla Ikshitha, said, “I’m extremely thrilled on being selected for Erasmus Mundus SARENA Scholarship 2022 and I thank all my teachers and faculty of Amity who have been a guiding force, always extending their support and encouragement to pursue my dreams. I had a keen interest in Nuclear Science since childhood and consider myself fortunate to get admission in Amity as Amity is the only institute in India offering B. Tech in Nuclear Science & Technology. I aspire to work in Nuclear Safety Department as a Radiation Safety Officer or as a Nuclear Energy Consultant and provide suggestions about Nuclear Safety to various companies.”
Ms. Chalamalla Ikshitha’s application was evaluated according to the SARENA(Safe and Reliable Nuclear Applications) common evaluation grid during the usual candidate selection process, which included an eligibility check, followed by a strict evaluation based on a multitude of rigorous selection criteria -notably academic excellence, professional and academic experience, precise career project, motivation for intercultural experience, language skills and high-quality recommendation letters. Having fulfilled these criteria, Ms. Chalamalla Ikshitha met the requirements and criteria to be admitted in the programme. Her application was even deemed outstanding enough for her to be granted the SARENA Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, notably covering tuition fees, travel costs, installation costs and subsistence costs.
