Amity University inks MoU with IIT Guwahati

 

Amity University Uttar Pradesh signed an MoU with IIT Guwahati to explore the potential areas of academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, averred, “IIT Guwahati is the only Academic Institution in India to occupy a place among the top 100 world universities. This collaboration between two great institutions is just the beginning of a long-lasting association through which both the institutions will mutually benefit. Research and innovation is the prime focus area at IIT Guwahati, therefore, this partnership will provide new opportunities in the field of research and innovation which will contribute towards nation building. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research is the need of the hour which reinforces the significance of cooperation between institutions and individuals. Transfer of technologies developed by academic institutions, to the industries, is necessary to achieve the objective of a self-reliant India.”

Highlighting the areas of collaboration, Prof. P. K. Iyer, Dean of Public Relations, Branding and Ranking, IIT-Guwahati, stated, “Through the strategic partnership between IIT Guwahati and Amity, joint research projects, development of electronic devices and vaccines, waste-water management, sustainable development, nuclear defence, drone technology and other inter-disciplinary programmes, can be conducted, amongst others. Innumerable opportunities can be explored through this association and path-breaking research can be carried out in various fields.”

Welcoming the guests on this occasion, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), said, “Amity is delighted to partner with a great institution like IIT Guwahati as Amity has always collaborated with reputed organizations and institutions for conducting research in various fields. The partnership will focus on joint degrees, projects and patents to develop new technologies and work towards the scientific and technological development of the country. Amity faculty members have already established a partnership with the faculty members of IIT Guwahati by publishing joint papers and this collaboration will further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.”

The MoU Signing Ceremony concluded with the felicitation of guests and was attended by the researchers, head of institutions, faculty members and staff of Amity in large numbers.
