High-power delegation from Technology Development Fund (TDF), DRDO visits Amity University
A high-power delegation from Technology Development Fund (TDF), DRDO comprising of five officials visited Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The delegation was led by Dr. Nidhi Bansal, Director, Technology Development Fund (TDF) and the aim of this visit was to discuss the benefits of the TDF project sanctioned to Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology (AISST).
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nidhi Bansal, Director, Technology Development Fund (TDF), DRDO, averred, “Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme of DRDO aims to create an ecosystem for promoting self-reliance by building indigenous state-of-the-art systems for defence application and offers tremendous opportunities for Innovation, Start-ups and MSME by providing Grants in aid funding to Industries for the development of Defence Technology as per the requirement of defence forces and DRDO. Academic institutions like Amity, which have an Incubation Centre, can also play a vital role to support start-ups and take the advantage of this scheme. With a funding up to Rs 10 Crores (through Grant-in-Aid), mentoring, testing, monitoring, and all types of support required to get a quality ‘Made in India’ product, TDF aims to tap the hidden potential and broaden the defence industry base for self-reliance.”
Welcoming the guests on this occasion, Prof M. S. Prasad, Director, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology (AISST), said, “DRDO has two schemes for Faculty & Student Innovators and start-ups, the first is "Dare to dream" DRDO innovation contest. Individual innovators and start-ups can participate for offering their innovative idea as per the themes given by the DRDO, whereas in TDF they nurture start-ups and MSMEs for the design and development of critical defence technology through industries. Therefore, this visit is of great significance as it promotes research and innovation in the field of Space Science & Technology, which has always been the focus at Amity.”
The delegation visited the Amity Innovation Incubator and also interacted with the faculty and staff of Amity Foundation for Science, Technology & Innovation Alliances (AFSTIA) to discuss the opportunities which can be explored through the TDF Scheme.
