IEEE: Advancing Technology for Humanity – “Inspiring Innovations
AMITY UNIVERSITY UTTAR PRADESH organised a session on IEEE: Advancing Technology for Humanity – “Inspiring Innovations”
IEEE, is the world's largest technical professional society, an organization dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. It is designed to serve professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and related areas of science and technology that underlie modern civilization.
The Event began with the Lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana followed by the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) K. M. Soni, Dy Dean (Engg. & Tech.), Incharge, Ph.D Department and Counselor, Student Branch of IEEE, Amity University.
Delivering her special address, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor Amity University motivated students and faculty members to work hard in the field of Innovation.
Dr. Satish K. Singh, (IEEE UP Section Chair), IIIT Allahabad made a presentation on the functioning of IEEE and shared the brief history of IEEE, the global reach of IEEE. There are approximately more than 4 lakh members, 39 technical societies and the presence of IEEE in 160 countries. He also shared the benefits of membership, details of section awards, achievements, upcoming events.
Prof. (Dr) Asheesh K Singh, (Immediate Past Chair-IEEE UP Section), MNNIT Allahabad shared his experiences as a volunteer and inspired everyone to join IEEE. He said, India has 2nd highest membership all around the world (5000 approx.) out of which two-third are student members. He shared his personal experiences, insights and a lot of information to motivate students to join IEEE in large numbers.
Prof. (Dr.) S.N. Singh, (IEEE Core Committee member), IIT Kanpur, also an IEEE UP Section Award Committee Chair shared the significance of Awards and described the transparent system of the award committee. He also shared information regarding some of the new awards to be launched this year and an initiative of IEEE UP Section who is creating a smart village to connect rural areas to urban areas, designing standards for industries. Dr. Singh motivated students and faculty to work towards invention with innovation while designing products and be entrepreneurs.
This event was attended by about 800 faculty members and students from Amity University .
