World Teachers’ Day

Amity Institute of Education and Amity Institute of Molecular Medicine & Stem Cell Research (AIMMSCR) in coordination with Dean Students’ Welfare celebrated World Teachers' Day, in line with the vision of UNESCO. With the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education, and the dedicated target (SDG 4.c) recognizing teachers as key to the achievement of the Education 2030 agenda Amity lays great stress on development and wellbeing of its teachers.

Mr. Michael Brant, President, World Institute for Social Education Development; China said due to this pandemic every sector is affected, even education sector is also highly impacted. Teachers are playing a great role to bridge the gap which was created during the pandemic. A good teacher always try to build self-confidence which will help the student to face the real world. Meaning of real education can only be seen outside the four walls of school. Nowadays people are not accepting the teacher’s job due to low salary but if you want to do something for humanity then you should be teacher, advised Mr. Brant he averred, students are the living clay of human being and teacher give shape to that clay by giving good thought, values etc. Teacher is a profession through which you can change the world, remarked Mr. Brant.

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said the celebration of World teachers day is a tribute to all teachers. During the pandemic teachers not only supported student emotionally but also helped them technically. Teachers are the pillars of the country, they guide and shape the destiny of the students. At Amity, teachers groom students to be the future global leaders.

Professor Subhash Chandra Lakhotia, BHU Distinguished Professor (Lifetime) and SERB Distinguished Fellow Cytogenetics Laboratory remarked that teacher must be a committed man. If a teacher enjoys teaching, students enjoy learning, If the teacher endures teaching, students endure learning. What is enjoyed, endures, but what is endured, does not endure. Therefore, in the art of teaching, one should emulate an inspired musician who during a concert not only gets enthused and energized himself/herself but has the same effect on the appreciative audience. A major factor responsible for the poor quality of education in various disciplines is the continuing erosion of ethical values in society in general and in education in particular.

Dr. Ekkarin Sungtong, Dean, Faculty of Education, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand said in every country the covid 19 has changed the education scenario forever. The pandemic has created disruption between teaching and learning. Now, teachers need to be more technically sound, and have to adapt to unexpected conditions.

During this program, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President - Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation; Prof. Alka Muddgal, Head of the Institute, Amity Institute of Education, Amity University Uttar Pradesh; Prof (Dr) Marshal Sahni, Dean Student Welfare, Amity University Uttar Pradesh; Prof (Dr) BC Das, Chairman & H.
