Amity University organizes workshop for Student progression for Higher Education
With an aim to ensure excellent student progression towards attainment of Global Excellence in Higher education, Higher Education cell (Educere) of Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB) in collaboration with Corporate Resource Center- AIB is organizing a 5-day Workshop series on “Competency Based Development of Students for Enhancing Progression towards Global Education Excellence” during September- October 2021. The first session of this series was conducted on the topic “Cradling into the realm of higher education: Dynamic Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”. In her welcome address, the Joint director of the workshop Dr. Anupama Avasthi, Amity University outlined the objective of the workshop to explore the current education scenario, opportunities for excellence in India and Abroad and the need to create a stress-free transition from current academic programmes to Institutes of higher learning for the students. The workshop will see speakers from premier institutes from India as well as US, UK, Germany and Australia. Each session will be enriched with professional experts who will guide the students towards exam preparation, profile building, writing SOP and creating CVs. The AIB Alumni from prestigious Institutions would be sharing their journey which will encourage the students to follow their path. One of the major highlights of this workshop is that Mock test sessions for IELTS, GRE, GATE, NET and IITJAM would be conducted.
Addressing the students Vice Chancellor, AUUP- Noida, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla stressed upon the importance of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the holistic development of a student and urged all the students to enrich their portfolio for better prospects. She also highlighted the importance of soft skills, global outlook and value addition for better student progression. The session had eminent speakers like Prof Prabhat Jha - BITS, Pilani, Prof. GK Aseri - Provost and Dean Academics, Amity University Rajasthan, Mr. Shirish Gupta- Entrepreneur and Founder Mnemonic Education, Dr. Amlan Chakravorty- Post Doctoral Fellow, Monash University, Australia and Mr. Shubham Mishra - PhD scholar, AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. Prabhat Jha, in his talk gave an overview of the ME and PhD programmes in Biosciences at BITS, Pilani, along with the admission procedures. He also highlighted the fact that all students receive teaching and research assistantships. Dr. Aseri highlighted the role of Amity university in assisting the students to meet their academic aspirations. Mr. Shirish Gupta talked about how education paradigm has changed in recent times and emphasized on how if one wants to live an extraordinary life, they can only achieve it by planning. AIB Alumni- Dr. Amlan and Mr. Shubham discussed about their journey during and after Amity. Mr. Shubham also enlightened the students about different PhD fellowship opportunities available in India. The Joint director of the workshop Dr. Pooja Vijayaraghavan, Head CRC- AIB, proposed the vote of thanks and session was coordinated by Dr. Shivani Chandra.
Mock test for IELTS was conducted by Amity Institute for Competitive Examinations was conducted in the afternoon.
More than 300 students at various Institutes of Amity University actively participated in the session.
