Amity University organizes one day Farmer Training Program on Climate Farming
Amity University, Noida and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Muzaffarnagar jointly organized a one day farmer training program in Chandpur village wherein farmers were provided with information regarding the challenges arising out of climate change and its effects on agriculture and husbandry. Scientists from Amity and Krishi Vigyan Kendra along with more than 50 farmers participated in this training programme.
Dr. Nutan Kaushik, Director General, Amity Food and Agriculture Foundation shared techniques on how to do climate tolerant farming with the concept of climate change. She stated that Amity has always been providing training and information about advanced techniques to farmers which will help in increasing their income.
Dr. A.K. Katiyar, in-charge of Muzaffarnagar's Krishi Vigyan Kendra provided information regarding soil testing and balanced fertilizers. He also talked about the measures to be taken to prevent major diseases and pests in various produces of sugarcane, paddy etc. Dr. Katiyar said that farmers will be provided information regarding preventive measures for the problems arising out of climate change, so that they will be able to increase the productivity and quality of food grains.
During the program, Dr. A.K. Tyagi, scientist from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Muzaffarnagar talked about animal diseases and animal vaccination; Dr. R.S., Principal Advisor, Amity Food and Agriculture Foundation gave information on how to reduce the economic impact of climate change through innovative agricultural practices.
