Amity organizes Interactive Session on Career Opportunities in the Indian Army
An online interactive session on career opportunities in the Indian Army was organized by Amity Institute of Defence & Strategic Studies (AIDSS) & Amity SSB Academy. Major Anita Kumari, officer, Indian Army shared detailed information amongst students regarding the opportunities available in the defence sector as a career. Lt. Gen. (Dr.) S. K Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), DG AIDSS & Commandant, Amity Institute of Education and Training welcomed the guest speaker in which hundreds of students participated in this online interactive session.
During the session, Major Anita Kumari, officer, Indian Army while said that the main objective of the Indian Army is to protect the interests of the nation. Developing economy, growing military power and technologically acumen human resource, the main strength of India. She said that the country is facing many external as well as internal challenges. Mentioning about the external challenges Major Anita stated about the problems with China and Pakistan, whereas ethnic communal conflict, drug trafficking, cyber security etc. are the internal problems faced by our country. She said that officers are made only with tuff trainings and dedications which encourage the candidates to complete their mission. Comparing the army and the corporate, it is said that the army is led by the leader while the corporate is operated by the manager. In the Army, our foremost priority is give security to the country every time. There are three service divisions in the army, first is fighting branch consisting of armored corps, mechanized infantry; second is auxiliary armament which includes artillery, engineers, etc. and the third division includes Army Service Corps, Army Medical Corps etc. She also provided information about the importance of facilities available in military services, job satisfaction, job security, quality of life, facilities etc. Addressing the students, Major Anita said there are four main sections for officer entry in the army, UPSC, non UPSC, service entry and others. NDA entrance exam is conducted by UPSC for admission in Army, Navy and Airforce, in addition she explained in detail about post-graduation and medical admission. She said that technical graduates or post graduates - IMA (only for men) and OTA (for men and women) can apply on army headquarters based notification. She also provided information about the various stages under the schedule of SSB, UPSC selection, non-UPSC selection and various admission process for military service.
In his welcome address, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) S. K Gadeock, AVSM (Retd), DG AIDSS & Commandant, Amity Institute of Education and Training said Amity University always inspires students to serve the nation with high quality education. At present, making a career in the military services is a great option and students from various faculties are looking forward to make a career in the military services. This interactive session has been organized to make students aware of the career and admission process in the Indian Army.
During the session, students of Amity raised various questions regarding the opportunities and career. Brigadier Arjan Dutta, Director, Amity SSB Academy and Brigadier B B Verma, Program Director, Amity Institute of Education and Training were also present on the occasion.
