Amity organizes FDP on “Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights in Agri-Horticulture & Allied Sciences”

 

 Amity Food & Agriculture Foundation, Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture and Amity Institute of Horticulture Studies and Research jointly organized a five day FDP on “Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights in Agri-Horticulture &   Allied Sciences” which aimed at promoting innovations and IPR regulations in agri horticulture sector with a view to further address the UN declaration on   self-development goals and also to address the zero hunger goals.

During this FDP emphasis were laid on topical issues such as importance of water & soil conservation, plant-microbe associations, natural resource management, disseminate latest innovations in crop monitoring technology as well as promote emerging entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture and nutraceutical sector.

During the programme, more than 100 faculty and researchers participated from across the country. The five day programme comprised of thematic sessions on Innovations and agri-horticulture production; Bioeconomy, Agrochemicals & Crop Monitoring; Farmers rights and Nutraceuticals; Natural Resources Management and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Twenty nationally and internationally acclaimed subject experts mentored the faculty trainees during the programme.

Prof (Dr) R B Singh, Former Chancellor, Central Agriculture University, Manipur, shared his thoughts and ideas on ‘Science, Technology, and Innovation for Agricultural Transformation’. Dr CD Mayee, President, South Asia Biotechnology Centre, New Delhi gave address on on ‘Biodiversity to Bioeconomy through Innovations and IPR’. Both the speakers flagged the emerged situation in agri-horticulture sector and underlined the progress made by India in ensuring food and nutritional security. At the same time discussions were held to highlight the need for incorporating technology especially digital technology in agri-horti sector to ensure profitability, sustainability, entrepreneurship, employment and doubling farmers income.
