Seven-day online Faculty Development Programme on ‘Recent Advancement in Forensic Science and Technology’ organized at Amity University
A seven-day online Faculty Development Programme on ‘Recent Advancement in Forensic Science and Technology’ was organized by Amity Academic Staff College in association with Amity Institute of Forensic Science. The faculty development programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Kapoor, Former Vice-Chancellor Jiwaji University, Gwalior, M.P; Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh; Dr. R. K. Sarin, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Amravati, A.P, India; Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Lobiyal, Professor, School of Computer & Systems Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Welcoming the guests and participants, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla said that forensic science is playing an important role in the criminal justice system. Crime prevention is the global issue and efforts are being made by law enforcement agencies in collaboration with forensic science to reduce crime and solve cases. Through this, FDP Amity is providing latest information and trends to the faculty.
Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Kapoor, Former Vice-Chancellor Jiwaji University, Gwalior, M.P said that Forensic Science and Technology together is playing an important role in preventing crime. Dr Kapoor also provided information about Forensic Anthropology and covered aspects of forensic science commencing from the basic knowledge to the advanced techniques and methodologies to deal effectively as an expert and professional in this field of expertise.
Sharing his Experience, Ms. Deepa Verma, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Delhi briefed about engrossing session related to Questioned Documents Examination field of expertise and enriched with her experiences in dealing with real time cases. She also said that new advances and trends in forensic science and technology are bringing unprecedented changes in the way of working.
Dr. R. K. Sarin, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Amravati, A.P remarked that various opportunities are associated to groom onself academically as well as with new perspectives of undertaking research work related to the vast field of Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances as drug of abuse.
During the Programme, various plenary session on “New Trends in Questioned Document Forgery”, “Cyber Security” ; Forensic Anthropology; Forensic Chemistry; Wildlife Crime: Concerns, Trends and Challenges; Statistics: A Voice of Data; Fingerprints; The Utility of DNA Data Base in solving crimes; GC-MS in Forensic Analysis amongst other were organized.
