21st International Business Conference, INBUSH Era World Summit-2021 was inaugurated at Amity University. Organized by Amity International Business School (AIBS) and Amity University Greater Noida, the theme for this year’s summit is "Embracing & Leading Change: Challenges & Strategies to Reinvent & Innovate Growth" in which a host of luminaries from across the globe have come together to exchange thoughts and strengthen research linkages.
Welcoming the global academic and corporate leaders, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation called upon students to aim to be the best in their chosen field. He also announced Mission Sense, Smell, and Explore for the students, inspiring them to learn from the exemplary leadership that have graced the stage of INBUSH Era over the last 21 years. He asked students to work towards making India a global superpower & practice what they hear from the participants of the summit.
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University shared that the future of the country lies in the hands of the youngsters who are being imbibed with the value education at Amity & the lessons from the corporate leaders present here. He asked students to be humble, do good for the society and work towards making the world a better place.
During the Inauguration, H.E. Marten van den Berg, Ambassador of the Netherlands to India, Nepal and Bhutan was conferred with the Amity Gold medal for fostering relations between India & Netherlands. He averred that both countries have been working together on sustainable development goals, climate & agriculture among other fields. He stated that Covid showed the world how to work together to address a global challenge & fast track policy on sustainability. He further added that education is very important for development with the NEP offering several opportunities & how Netherland is looking forward to work in the sphere of research, science, education & innovation
Lord Karan Bilimoria, Chancellor, University of Birmingham, UK was conferred upon Amity Lifetime Achievement Award. While addressing the gathering he shared that you could leave India, but India never leaves you. He stated that Indians in England have achieved great positions and how Indians are leading the way when it comes to working on climate change. He added that climate change is the most important challenge in the present times. He complimented the entrepreneurial attitude of Amity University in beginning from nothing and establishing its presence across the globe. He averred that collaborations have worked in the time of pandemic as showcased by the joint development of the vaccine. He stressed on the fact that education is the most important thing for both UK and India & how one should embrace lifelong learning.
In his keynote address Prof. Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor, University of Northampton, UK stated that 2020 year made history and brought misery & frustration to millions. Covid-19 has left a mark on everyone and therefore the theme of the summit is very important in this regard. He averred that new joint venture is being formulated in the field of distance learning between Amity University and University of Northampton. He added that the single biggest medium threat facing us is climate change and it will require nation and states to come together to fight it & work for human good.
Mr. Mohan Murti, Head & Chief Representative for Continental Europe, Reliance Industries Limited (Europe Office) while addressing the gathering stated that change is part of universal existence & it is the only certain thing in the modern world. He added that humans have evolved to be adaptable & embrace change, but the pace of change often hurts. He averred that there is no place to hide in this present crisis and people are in the state of flux. He shared the lessons learnt by him to developing anti-flux mindset including looking at the Indian culture to learn about impermanence & the equanimity of mind to adapt to continuous change. He further added that humanity needs to expand the peripheral vision literally & figuratively in real life and to learn to let go off the future.
Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities welcomed the gathering from across the globe and shared reminiscences of the 21-year journey of the summit. He acknowledged the support of the international luminaries who have supported INBUSH and aided in its growth and shared how Amity has been cementing its place in the sphere of online education.
Mr. Akhilesh Argal, CEO, Rajya Anand Sansthan, India’s First Ministry of Happiness, MP, India shared that the quality of life depends upon quality of mind and to be happy one must spend time with oneself. He shared his views in the preinaugural session along with H.E. Ritva Koukku-Ronde, Ambassador of Finland to India on the theme ‘Creating Innovative Organizations by Integrating Change Management & Cultivating Culture of Happiness’. During the session, Amity Global Academic Excellence Award was conferred upon Prof Bruce McKenzie, Vice Chancellor, Lincoln University, New Zealand.
A panel discussion on the theme ‘FOCUS UK & EUROPE- Post COVID Workplace and Partnerships’ was also organized. A special address by Prof. Mike Hinchey, Director - Lero-the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre & Past Chair IEEE (UK & Ireland section) was delivered along with the launch of his book on Industry 4.0. The summit also saw the release of several books and journals.
Continuing with its tradition of honoring and recognizing excellence, Amity Global Excellence Award for fostering UK & India Academic Cooperation was given to Prof. Jo Purves, Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Partnerships, University of Salford, UK and Prof. Cillian Ryan, Pro Vice Chancellor International, Nottingham Trent University, UK. Amity Global Innovation Award was bestowed upon Prof. Marc Gruber, Vice President for Innovation at EPFL, Switzerland while Amity Global Academic Excellence Award was conferred upon Prof. Kamal Bhattacharya, IUBH Germany; Dr. Barbara Howell, Associate Dean Global Engagement, Coventry University, UK; Prof. Dr. Leïla Choukroune, Professor of International Law, University of Portsmouth, UK and Prof. Mamokgethi Phakeng, Vice Chancellor, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Further, Amity Global Corporate Excellence Award was awarded to Dr. Andy Packham, Chief Architect and Senior Vice President- Microsoft Ecosystem Unit, HCL Technologies, UK. Other awards presented were Amity Corporate Excellence Award – Business Leadership and Amity Corporate Excellence Award – Entrepreneurship.
Sessions on second day of the conference would include panel discussion on ‘Focus AUSTRALIA - Comprehensive Strategic Partnership - the Road Ahead’; ‘Focus: Russia & North East Asia - Technology and Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship - A new normal for Global Business Model’; ‘Focus Women Empowerment Rethinking Work: Flexibility & Engagement Post Lockdown’ among others. Day one of the three-day summit was attended by thousands of students, staff and faculty members from across the globe.
