A webinar on ‘Approach to NAAC Assessment Process’ was conducted by Dr. Madhukar B.S Former, Adviser and General Council, Executive Committee Member in NAAC. Globally it is believed that an external evaluation of the functioning of an educational institution by a peer group acts as an inbuilt mechanism to ensure accountability to the stake holders primarily the students. The webinar looked to outline the approach to the NAAC assessment process to obtain a deserving accreditation status
Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida welcomed the gathering and stated the importance and the need of quality assurance. She added Goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by Higher Education Institutions meets the set quality parameters and allows for internationalization & collaborations. She added that with Covid-19, the quality of education as substantiated by accreditation will further play an integral role.
Dr. Madhukar B.S Former, Adviser and General Council, Executive Committee Member in NAAC shared his insights on the “Approach to NAAC Assessment Process”. He stated that institutions can register for accreditation throughout the year and how the NAAC process is an internationally recognized process. As the process is now online, he shared the initial interface of the NAAC form for the institutions going for the first cycle of accreditation. Institution, NAAC and the agency that verifies the data are involved in the process and need to have a common understanding on what to verify. He gave detailed insights on how the accreditation process flows and the criteria for evaluation, as effective since 2017.
He advised to focus on quality indicators and not solely on the NAAC parameters, creating a seamless MIS system as everything is data based and the future assessments will be solely based on data. Dr. Madhukar is presently the Member of the Assessment Committee of Yoga Certification Board (YCB), Ministry of AYUSH and UGC Nominee for Governing Body of Sreenivasa Institute of Technology and Management Studies (SITAMS), Chittoor and of many others.
