Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology, organizes AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) sponsored 5-day Faculty Development Program on “Internet of Things”

Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology, organizes AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) sponsored 5-day Faculty Development Program on “Internet of Things” from October 12th – 16th, 2020 and has academicians enrolled from across the country, gaining theoretic and practical knowledge.

Around 198 participants across 23 states of India have registered for this FDP to gain knowledge in the area of designing projects and 11 eminent speakers will be conducting this FDP on IoT. Out of 198 participants, 31 participants are from Amity University and 167 are from outside Amity.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Thakur, General Chair, FDP and HoD, Computer Science & Engineering, ASET welcomed all the panelists and introduced the theme to the participants. He averred that the FDP would provide a learning platform to all the students, faculty, and industry persons with an importance of IOT in real world. He mentioned that popularity of IOT is not just because of its new appearance but because of its relationship with open source, big data, security & privacy and Software-Defined Networking (SDN). He thanked Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, honourable chief guest, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, AUUP, Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Bansal, Jt. Head, Director DICET and Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Pandey, Jt. Head, ASET, for gracing the occasion. He also thanked Dr. Sumita Gupta, Assistant Professor, Convener of FDP and her organising team to arrange such event.

Further, Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Bansal, Joint Head, ASET emphasized on the need of industry 4.0 in support with IOT. He threw a special focus on automation, M2M communication, interoperability, analytics, new business models to be discussed in the FDP. He also talked about the future of IOT as researchers estimate that within two years from now, a whopping 20.4 billion Internet of Things (IoT) devices will be connected. At the end of his talk, he gave his best wishes to chief guest, organizing team and participants for successful completion of FDP.

Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Pandey, Joint Head, ASET warmly welcomed all panellists and participants for attending 5 day FDP on IOT. He described The Internet of Things (IoT) as the network of physical objects: “things” that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. In the light of future of IoT and its limitless potential, he mentioned that advancements to the industrial internet will be accelerated through increased network agility, integrated artificial intelligence (AI) and the capacity to deploy, automate, orchestrate and secure diverse use cases at hyperscale. He concluded his welcome address by wishing best of luck to all the members of organizing team and participants for attending the FDP.

Sharing her views on industry 4.0 and emphasis on IOT in real world application, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, AUUP, welcomed our chief guest, Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Government of India, organizing team and other eminent members attending inaugural session. She made known to the fact that IoT is changing the world around us, and, with ‘Digital India’ and the ‘Smart Cities Mission,’ is using technologies to offer a slew of smart services that are efficient, sustainable, accessible and affordable. Smart city solutions such as smart transportation, smart infrastructure, smart energy, smart communications, smart lighting, etc., function using integrated technologies, such as IoT, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. In her closing words, she was deeply honoured to be part of this event and gave her hearty wishes for the smooth conduct.

Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, Government of India, chief guest of the FDP, graced the occasion with his heartfelt words. He indicated the FDP as a premier forum to share, discuss and witness cutting edge research in all areas of development for the Internet of Things. He also stressed on the importance of cloud with emerging technology of IoT. He was honoured to be part of such informative FDP and gave his warm wishes to everyone present remotely in the session.

Dr. Sumita Gupta, thanked our most valued Honourable Chief guest Dr. Mohit Gambhir, who spared time from his busiest schedule to grace the occasion. She also welcomed members of management committee, worthy faculty, industrialists and everyone gathered in the webex meeting.
