New Innovation Opportunities using Technology and IP Mapping
Inventions are the bedrock of innovation and a new solution to a technical problem that can be protected through patents. IP mapping considers how patents cite one another and may help researchers better understand the relationships between technologies & help in bringing out new innovations. To further understand the process of new innovations, an online interactive session was organized on “New Innovation Opportunities using Technology and IP Mapping”. The webinar put focus on The role of incubators and accelerators in bringing new innovations; The industry perspective of new innovations in growth and expansion with changing customer behaviour and how government promote, develop and commercialize the new innovations.
Shri Amitabh Mishra, Senior Manager (Biotech) at NRDC shared that it is important to know the regulatory norms before going ahead with the technology development and then to further think of innovation, development and its success. Dr.B.L.Lakshmi Meera, Program Director, FORGE Accelerator hoped that such occasion will lead to more women participating in tech innovations. Covid has exposed a lot of weaknesses in the system and put people back to basics & becoming more self-reliant. She stated that we are moving from Make In India to make for India with opportunities also getting democratized. She added that a lot of mindset change is happening that has reduced the mental barriers in adoption of new technology. She averred that economic slowdown has led to finding indigenous talent and work on innovations.
Mr. Nitin Jindal, Director | Digital Strategy & Consulting, BirlaSoft shared that innovation has accelerated in the past five months. He further averred that real innovation is there when future business problems are solved by future technology. Mr. Kapil Mehrotra, Group Chief Technical Officer at National Collateral Management Services Limited spoke about how the advent of the digital era led to the increase in the number of registered start-ups. He added that innovation combined with technology creates a deadly combination and gave the example of Urban Clap, Wow Momos etc that gained lot of business in the past few months by making use of innovations. He advised to think something different to sustain the business & also to register the business idea the moment one thinks of it and stressed on Embedding of technology with the idea to make it successful.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University shared that innovation, new technology is coming every day and it’s important to ascertain how these can be mapped with the market requirement and the business opportunities available. She also shared about the deep focus of Amity University on Innovation and Technology and the ongoing projects.
