A Panel Discussion on the topic on Atmanirbhar Bharat: Government Initiatives for Startups was organized by Amity University. The panelists included Mr Gaurav Bhatia, Ex. Additional Advocate General Uttar Pradesh, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India and National Spokesperson, BJP ; Mr Sameep Shastri, Chairman, Indian Institute of Governance & Leadership; Adv. Mr Gaurav Bhatia, Ex. Additional Advocate General Uttar Pradesh, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India and National Spokesperson, BJP said that the Idea of Bharat itself is that we become a nation which is self-reliant. We become a nation that ensure the self-reliance in every individual, family, town, city & locality. He added that Prime Minister of India is one a dynamic leader who is ensuring that his dream of making India as Atmanirbhar is achieved soon. Self-reliance is something that our father of the nation Mahtma Gandhi also had strong belief in. PM has brought opportunity in the times of covid. He has given vision to the country that we will grow and build a path to self-reliance. There were days when we were asking help and other things from different countries. But now India is on the path to become superpower, where other countries will collaborate with our country. Atmanirbhar Bharat is not about isolation but it is about cooperation. There should be a day when we don't buy aircraft and other things from different countries. We will be seeing that every aircraft is made in our country only. Prime Minister is ensuring that every individual is living with dignity and having access to education and technology. Today every Indian is part of journey from Swacch Bharat to Amtamnirbhar Bharat and we all are proud of it.

Mr Sameep Shastri, Chairman, Indian Institute of Governance & Leadership said that Atamnirbhar Bharat doesn't mean rejection of International trade. Some experts are misinterpreting it by the word self-reliance in the literal sense. The Covid crises has made it clear not only to India but also to other countries that what matters is assured quality. Now, it is time to look within ourselves and believe in our own self. Make the correct use of this platform and become self-reliant.

Dr Lekha Chakraborty, Professor, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy & Senior Advisor, Government of India said self-reliance for me is the way we formulate our internal public policy tool, the way we design our fiscal policy and the monetary policy to meet with this pandemic. The way we have designed the economic package of 20 lakh crores is how we define and design.  We need extra ordinary response to fight through this pandemic. The session was well-attended by students and faculty members.
