UP Industrial Development Minister calls for Academia, Industry and Government Connect at Amity University
Highlighting the path-breaking policies of the state government to enable trade to prosper during these challenging times Shri Satish Mahana, Hon’ble Minister of Industrial Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh stressed upon the need to develop connect between the academia, industry and the government to create an environment for growth at a webinar hosted by Amity University. Talking about the “Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Industry & Agriculture Sector” during a virtual gathering organized by Amity Food and Agriculture Foundation, Chief Guest Shri Mahana shared various initiatives being taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to support the farmers, industries and migrant labourers while delivering keynote address.
Referring to the ‘Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan’ launched recently by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which would benefit over 1.25 crore migrant workers and labourers who lost their jobs due to the pandemic, the minister added that the government is mapping skills of migrant labourers and is working on providing them with suitable employment opportunities. He averred the state of UP has an opportunity for the industries to progress fast as it is an era of new industrialization. He also shared the various initiatives under the Atma Nirbhar mission for the farmers and the agriculture sector adding that every individual has to contribute towards the mission. The minister also stated the various works being done by local industries in the state to provide good quality and reasonable PPE kits and ventilators.
Shri Mahana averred that the agriculture GDP will not be impacted much as a sufficient monsoon is expected to hit the country this year and farmers should find opportunities to grow other crops as well beyond their traditional produce. He also stressed that the knowledge and research about technology should reach the backward areas and motivate them to go beyond traditional farming. Sharing the various key initiatives taken by his government, the minister stated how the industries were being handheld in the state to make them survive and outside investors showing interest in establishing their presence in the state were being contacted individually along with the state government focusing on manufacturing those items that were being imported from other countries.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institution asked students and alumni to remember the words of the minister and follow his footsteps. He also initiated the creation of the AIG Consortium (Academia, Industry, Government) on the suggestion of the chief guest and vowed to make Uttar Pradesh an Industrial and Academic hub.
Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, AUR averred how he always felt motivated whenever he heard the honorable minister and was inspired by his work done for the society and the country at large.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University shared the growth journey of Amity University in India and across the globe & how its alumni is contributing significantly towards the growth of the country. She further averred about Amity Innovation Incubator and its focus on a number of entrepreneurial opportunities and how a WhatsApp group was created to help and guide farmers in Noida during these trying times.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. W. Selvamurthy, DG, ADSI & President ASTIF and Dr. Nutan Kaushik, Director General, Food & Agriculture Foundation who shared how Amity has always supported small farmers through its research initiatives and innovations.
